8 Things That I Hate About Ball State

I love Ball State as a school but there are still somethings that I wish I could change because no school is perfect.

The Breakfast Swipe

The whole meal swipe plan as a whole doesn't really bother me but I hate the breakfast swipe. Never would I ever wake up before 10:30 am to spend $4.80 on breakfast willingly and all my morning classes end after the breakfast swipe ends so no one wins.

There isn't a single 24 Hour Convenience Store

My friends and I always crave something and then realise it is 3 in the morning and nothing is on campus is open. I think that having one 24 hour convenience store would really pay off and make everyone happy.

The Standard 3 Skips

Almost all teachers go by the standard of giving you three skips a semester and that never actually works. I always ended missing 4 and getting points deducted from my grade.

The Smoke Alarms

Our smoke alarms are SO sensitive and always go off for no reason. I appreciate the safety but someone always decided to burn their popcorn or macaroni during my nap.

The Bathroom Cleaning Schedule

Our custodians are a blessing and amazing but I HATE how the bathrooms are not cleaned during the weekends. Girls are disgusting humans and it is so nasty during the weekends. The custodians definitely deserve a break but maybe hire a weekend staff to clean the bathrooms. My friend also had a great idea to have the floor vote on the times that the bathrooms are cleaned.

The Atrium Hours

The atrium is the most popular place to eat but it is so inconveniently closed on the weekends. Also, the Bookmark Cafe has odd weekend hours that always throw me off guard.

All of the thieves at Ball State

You go to Ball State you have probably had something stolen from you. I have personally had a whole pie, a hat, and my shampoo stolen from me. People need to become more honest or the RAs need to show some initiative in finding the culprit.

Classes Not Cancelling For The Weather

Even though we don't usually have to drive to class, it is still hard to walk to class in the Indiana weather. Ball State needs to start accounting for the icy sidewalks, temperature, and even sometimes the rain. One day I had to walk 15 minutes across campus in the pouring rain with my soaked clothes and some girl's laptop even got ruined by it.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
