Responsible. Trustworthy. Dedicated. Loving. Honestly a little crazy. We all know someone like this- and usually, we call them The Mom Friend™. As an unknown person could have said: "Here's to mom friends. May we know them. May we raise them. May we be them." Some of you may have a mom friend, and if that's the case, I highly recommend you take this moment to thank them. It's not fun to hold your hair back while you're puking up box wine. Appreciate that someone would do that for you.

If you are the mom friend of your group, you just may recognize the following:

1. You try really hard to convince your friends that you're just as fun as they are.

We've all been here. Maybe you're at a party, or maybe it's just a normal night, but somehow the conversation gets here: "You're too much of a mom!" Moms don't party, or so they say. Trying to convince them otherwise is tough, too, because even if you make "bad choices," you make them in a smart, safe, and controlled way while also watching out for your friends. And their smug selves know it.

2. Your friends call you Mom, and you don't even flinch.

It's a typical Tuesday night in the lounge. You're having a study session with The Fam, and someone forgot their pencil. Let's be real, they always do. And as usual, they know you have an extra. They turn. You're already reaching into your backpack for one of many sharpened spares. And then it happens: "Mom, do you have a pencil?"

It takes a full two minutes after your "Of course!" and the handing over of the pencil for either of you to even realize, and when you do, you just laugh.

3. You ROCK the mom jeans look.

After reading all those articles about the negative effects of skinny jeans on your circulation, you're hip-deep into the mom jeans trend. Throw on a sweater and whip that messy ponytail, girl, because you own it.

4. You have a compulsive desire to cook food for people.

For every occasion. If someone's having an awful day, or a great day, or is feeling tired, or just broke up with their boyfriend, or just aced an exam, your immediate reaction is to break out the pots and pans and cook up something good. There's always time for comfort food.

5. You're pretty much used to every gross bodily fluid possible coming out of your friends.

Vomit. Blood. Pee. Snot. Ooze. Et cetera. You're familiar with every disgusting thing that might come out of your friends, and you're already ready with the solution- from Band Aids to Pepto and more.

6. You're always on call.

Round the clock, 24/7, seven days a week, 52 weeks a year, every year. There's no such thing as time off from being the mom friend.

7. You worry like a maniac on Saturday nights.

And every other night, honestly. You've sent out more "please be safe" and "don't walk alone" and "call me when you get there" texts than Jesus had beard hairs.

8. No matter what, you'll always love your kids.

Maybe they're not related to you. Maybe they're weird or crazy or a little wild, but damn it, you love your little adopted family, and you are so proud to be their mom.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
