Music is a staple in everyone's lives. It can be classical, rock, reggae, pop or any of the other hundreds of genres. People also listen to different music depending on the mood they're in. Here's my playlist for chilling, relaxing or looking for something to fall asleep to.
1. "Brain Cells" - Chance The Rapper
Back when Chance was still doing drugs and making weed rap, he made bangers like this. "Brain Cells" has the same relative beat that rides through the whole song: a lower tone on a keyboard with a drum and a slew of other pleasant sounds. There are no loud horns or yells, which makes it a fantastic song to keep the mood you're trying to convey.
2. "Alright" - Logic feat. Big Sean
Logic and Big Sean kill this slower beat. Logic ignores the beat at times and just rhymes whatever comes to his head as fast as he wants. Pairing this with Big Sean's deeper tone and slower pace makes for a great song and a spot on my list.
3. "Just Believe" - G-Eazy
G-Eazy is known for his chill beats and songs about his life. In this mellow tune, G raps about his fears, regrets and revelations over a heavy bass. This song is perfect for drifting off and losing yourself in your thoughts.
4. "Lost" - Chance the Rapper feat. Noname Gypsy
Chance is back with his second mixtape, "Acid Rap," and his second song on my list. "Lost" is about forgetting your problems, no matter what they are. The piano riff at the beginning sets up the bass that comes to put you in Chance and Noname's mindset like you're right there with them.
5. "Palm Trees" - Flatbush Zombies
Flatbush is the Migos of weed rap. "Palm Trees" was the first song I heard by FZ and I was hooked. An enchanting voice in the background brings you in and the bass makes you stay. The consistency of a clap sound cancels out the potential for it to kill whatever mood you're going for. All of this is topped off by all three of the members' unique voices, bringing a different level to each of their verses.
6. "Losin' Control" - Russ
Relatively new to the scene, Russ has made a name for himself in the rap world. He does all of his own work, making him somewhat rare in today's music. "Losin' Control" has a deep bass and a light snare drum that make this song easy to vibe to. His voice is easy on the ears: deep enough to calm you down, but high enough to almost blend in with the beat.
7. "Yours Truly, Austin Post" - Post Malone

8. "Pound Cake" - Childish Gambino
Although this is Drake and Jay-Z's song, Gambino does a freestyle over the beat on "Sway in the Morning," a radio show on SiriusXM. The "Pound Cake" beat is already good, having a decent bass and a snare at just the right times. Gambino makes it even better with his real-talk rap and a monotone voice. This lesser-known freestyle is one of the greatest I've ever heard and earned its spot on my list.
There are other songs I have on my playlist, but these are the ones I can't live without. Do you have any you could add?
