8 Situations That Perfectly Describe Working In Retail

There's always an unhappy customer, but the customer is always right.

8 Situations That Perfectly Describe Working In Retail

I'm always listening to the experiences that friends and people I know go through while they're working. So here's some memes that perfectly describe working in retail.

1. When you accidentally mess up or something out of your control happens and the customer is getting impatient.

This is always annoying to everyone involved. When a code won't work or the computer glitches, it's never good because every customer wants their transaction done quickly and efficiently.

2. When a customer develops an attitude with you and starts yelling but you have to be patient and keep a smile on your face.

This is always peachy, because no matter how much you want to lose it, you have to stand with a smile on your face and be happy.

3. When the customer decides that you control the prices and thinks it will be awesome to argue with you over the price.

This has to be the worst thing about working in retail, because even though it might come as a shock, I, the employee, do not set the prices for the toy you want or the Tupperware bowl set that you can't live without.

4. When someone comes into the store in a bad mood that has nothing to do with anything that you have done, they're just mad.

This is one thing that's very hard to deal with because you never know if it's you that they're annoyed by, if they are just having a bad day or if they're just mad.

5. When someone comes in thinking that they are 100 percent more important than every other person in the entire store.

I'll never understand why people come in with this type of an attitude because as an employee, but also a customer, I don't think I've ever one time thought that I was more important than everybody else, and so much so that I get impatient when I'm not being helped first or getting the fastest service.

6. When a customer comes in and is determined to be right about something that you know for a fact, but they won't hear anything you have to say.

Because I'm a pretty passive person, I never really know what to say to people who think that they're always right because of how overwhelming it is, so all you can do is make this face at them while they're off looking at something or looking away.

7. When someone comes in 30 seconds before you close and you have to stay open just for them.

I think we all try to be patient with those who think that stores just stay eternally open, especially for them, but we all know we really look like this when someone walks in the door at 8:58 and you close at 9.

8. The moment that every retail worker hopes for: The end of the day.

I think that the best part of every retail worker's work day is 100 percent the end of the day. No matter how much we may like the retail job we have, I think that after a bad day, the best thing ever is seeing the clock turn until it's finally the end of the day and you finally get to go home.

I think everyone who works in retail can relate to these memes, even just a little bit. But remember, the customer is always right, right?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
