8 Signs You're In A Summer State Of Mind

We all long for it. Finals to be over, the weather to be warm, and our biggest care in the world to be what country concerts we need to buy tickets for. Summer is the time of the year where everyone cares more about getting the perfect tan instead of making a 100 percent on the paper you have to turn in tomorrow. If summer is not your favorite time of the year you are doing something wrong. We still have a few months until it's officially summer but, when the stress of school becomes too much, we like to pretend it's already summer. Here are the signs that you are officially over the school year and ready to worry about nothing but what is in your cooler at the pool.

1. Windows down. Music up.

We have days here and there where it is appropriate to roll your windows down due to the temperature. However, when you are really ready for summer is when you roll your windows down simply because it is roughly 60 degrees outside and you are willing to have a sweatshirt on in the car just to feel the wind in your hair. Also, music sounds so much better when it has to be turned up loud so you can hear it over the wind of all your windows being down.

2. Speaking of music... country music all day, every day.

When you start to get in the mood for summer the latest rap and pop songs seem to go away and you become much more interested in what the latest country song is. Something about a new, well-written country song can put anyone in the mood for summer.

3. "Can I wear rainbows/Jack Rogers/sandals yet?"

You ask your roommates on a daily basis if it is too early to break out your favorite open toed shoes yet. "I know it's only march but the sun is out...."

4. Target bathing suits

You already go to target at least once a day (if not more). Now right when you walk you are quickly reminded that summer is right around the corner because... bathing suits! You convince yourself you don't need any because there is still at least three months before you're gonna put one on. However, it's too tempting. You try five on and buy two.

5. Tanning Bed

You hate the tanning bed. You promised yourself that you would never fall into their traps. But, they are currently running a great deal... you go in just to tan one time to get over the winter blues. They hook you and now you are a member or their highest level. You just can't wait any longer to be tan.

6. The Gym

This time of the year is almost like the week after New Year's. The gym is crazy crowded because everyone has decided that it is time to make sure their body is looking just the way they want it for summer.

7. What is school?

We still have way too long left before finals week. You dread waking up for class every day and have multiple countdowns on your phone, in your planner, and on your wall calendar the remind you every morning how many more times you have to wake up for that 8 a.m.

8. State of Mind

This may be the worst side effect of longing for summer. Your mind starts to make you believe that it actually is summer. You have to constantly remind yourself every morning that it is not summer yet... however, it is getting closer with every time you push that snooze button.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
