As the school year comes to a close and the sweet taste of summer begins to set in, we typically find ourselves acting differently—suddenly, our motivation starts to drop, procrastination reaches a whole new level, and our hygiene becomes slightly questionable. With summertime right around the corner, there are eight symptoms we all seem to develop:
1. Your sleep schedule is a complete joke.
Getting five or less hours of sleep has become so normal to you that when you tell people about it, you’re confused as to why they’re looking at you in complete horror—eight hours a night? Maybe in another life.
2. Your outfit game has officially hit rock bottom.
Remember when you were in that horrible sweatsuit a long time ago and joked about wearing it in public? For some reason, that same sweatsuit is now on full display on campus for everyone to see—complete with messy hair and a face that screams, “I haven’t slept in weeks.”
3. You’ve run out of everything at home, but you don’t care.
No food? No shampoo? No clean clothes? No problem. You make everything you have last until you’re officially done—even if that means violently shaking the shampoo bottle for a week straight.
4. You start reminiscing about all the good times.
And by “good times,” I mean the times where you weren’t drowning in exams and papers. Wasn’t it just yesterday that you were binge-watching Netflix or going to a concert with friends? Oh wait…it probably was. #Procrastination
5. Your “diet” becomes comical.
By fruits and vegetables do you mean ramen? Forget drinking the right amount of water each day—your bloodstream is made up entirely of coffee by now. Although experts may suggest otherwise, Cheetos and Easy Mac seem to give you the energy you need to push through.
6. The word “graduation” really starts to freak you out.
Maybe you know someone graduating, maybe you’re the one graduating yourself, or maybe you just refuse the thought of ever joining the real world—no matter the circumstances, the finality of the word “graduation” is too much to handle during a time like this.
7. Your room has turned into a black hole.
Whether it’s because you’re trying to pack, find clean clothes, or just looking for those notes you took earlier in the year, your room is nothing short of an absolute disaster.
8. You get overly emotional about everything.
For some reason you start finding yourself screaming “I don’t know!” when someone asks you what you want for dinner or crying if someone wants to know how your day is going.
No matter how hard things get, just keep in mind what's waiting at the end of it all: freedom.
