After living in a sorority house for two weeks now, I like to think I have gotten the swing of things. I know the typical eating schedule, the rooms where all my friends live, and I'm not scared of the cold dorm anymore. It is clearly a big adjustment from living in a dorm with one roommate to a house with almost 100 girls. And, by being surrounded by a sea of girls 24/7, you catch up on sayings you hear at least more than once a day.
1. "What's for lunch??"
Food is obviously main priority. Hands down. And every morning a handful of girls forget to check the menu resulting in several questions asking what the meal for the day is. BTW the food in a house is 10x better and healthier than dorm food.
2. "Who was talking in their sleep last night?"
If your sorority has a cold dorm like mine does, you will notice the pros and cons of it very quickly. You will get the best sleep of your life, but if one person makes a noise, everyone will hear it. That can include a forgotten alarm, someone screaming downstairs, or the funniest one, someone talking in their sleep.
3. "What kind of crop tops do you have?"
When it's Saturday night and everyone is getting ready to go out, you best believe there are at least 7 girls in your room trying to find something to wear. The biggest perk of living with 100 girls? One hundred closets you get to choose from.
4. "What's your shoe size?"
This goes along with the above quote. Shoes are one the most important aspects of your outfit. Finding someone with the same shoe size is much trickier than just a shirt. But once you find someone, it is endless amounts of shoes to share!
5. "You look so good today!"
One of the best perks of living in a sorority is the amount of positive energy that comes from the girls living in it. There will always be someone there to compliment your outfit, say how pretty you are, or even a job well done after you aced a test. Especially if you're just having a bad day, this will put a smile on your face. No doubt.
6. "OK, who wants to watch a movie right now?"
Nothing is better is than watching TV or a movie in the big TV room as you're wrapped up in a big blanket cuddling with your friends. I guarantee there is always a group of girls down to watch Grey's Anatomy, Bachelor in Paradise, or High School Musical with you at any point of the day.
7. "Who wants to go get McDonalds?"
This, of course, is typically at 11 pm, and the restaurant is always interchangeable (Taco Bell, Hot Box, Jimmy Johns etc). You will always have a friend that will join you and settle your late night food cravings with.
8. "I love you guys"
The constant love and support you get living in a house is amazing! There will always be moments of pure laughter and you will think to yourself, "Wow, I love these people!"
Yes, sororities do get a bad rep sometimes or harsh stereotypes, but I couldn't be more grateful for my sorority because it brought me an amazing group of people who support, laugh, eat, party, study, cuddle, and live life to the fullest with.
