I've had some great friends, but none compare to the friends I found when I came to college. Here are 8 reasons why the friends you meet in college are the best friends you'll ever have.
1. You've spent all of your time together since the day you all met.
College is great because you get to see your friends multiple times a week, if not every day. That means you are going to share every highlight of each other's life, positive or negative. Your group can't be happy if one of you is upset, and you don't feel complete if one person is missing. You know you always have your friends to help you celebrate the accomplishments or make a shitty day better.
2. They tell you how it is, always.
In college, you learn that you never knew how much you needed a blunt group of friends until you had them. There will be times you text a boy first who you swore you were done with; your friends will be there to tell you you're an idiot. There will be nights where you make stupid decisions when you hit the town; you can bet your friends will be there to give you hell about it the next day. That's what they're there for.
3. You became friends at a time when friends were most important to you.
I don't know a single person who comes to college and doesn't want to meet their lifelong best friend. Finding your friend group in college is extremely important to most people. Down the road, your family and even career may come above your friends, but throughout the college years, your friends were the single most important thing in your life.
4. They've become your home away from home.
Homesickness isn't uncommon for someone when they move to school, but having a close knit group of friends makes it a hell of a lot easier to get through. And if your hometown is far away from your school, there's a good chance that one of your friends is from close by, and they've welcomed you in as one of their own.
5. They know the truest, happiest forms of you.
As for me, I discovered who I truly was in college. Your friends get to be there through that experience and help you become the person you are. They know what makes you laugh, they know how to make you feel better, and in the future, they will never let you forget all of the fun you guys had together in the ~glory days~.
6. They've seen you at your lowest of lows.
While your college years can be extremely fun and exciting, they're also going to be filled with tons of stress and mental breakdowns. Whether
7. They've helped you create your future.
Whether it was helping you through finally choosing a major, late night study dates at the library, helping you prep for that dream job interview, or maybe even setting you up with a potential future hubby/wifey, your friends have been a big part of your future, which by the way, is one that you can't picture without them in it.
8. They know you better than you know yourself.
You may be able to count the number of years you've known each other on one hand, but it feels like you've been friends your entire life. You've had to pack a lifetime of memories into four years so you spend a lot of time together, and you know each other so well, it's scary. You can tell someone is upset through a text message, you can't surprise each other anymore because it's so easy to figure out something is out of the ordinary, and you wouldn't have it any other way.
College may not be the "best years of your life," but they're definitely the ones where you find your forever friends. Growing up sucks, but hey, now you get to count down the years until you're in each other's weddings, playing in golf tournaments together, and making the trip back for your yearly football reunion game and being those rowdy ass 40-year-olds in the college bar because you will ~never close the yearbook~.
