As you enter college with a relationship that started in high school, you hear a lot of people start to say things like: "Are you guys really staying together? "You can't enjoy your college experience while in a relationship!" It's discouraging, really. The person who's been your other half throughout every confusing high school experience, who stood beside you through college essays, senior prom, and graduation- is the same person who's going to "ruin" all your time in college? It's halfway into my second semester, and I've been lucky enough to say that my man has not ruined, but enhanced my time in college.
1. You always have someone to party with.
Whether you're out on the streets party hopping, or just hanging out with a bunch of people, you're never alone.
2. You always have someone to take care of you when you're sick or hungover.
After those long nights out, or during the first time you catch the flu from your roommate, your boyfriend or girlfriend will always go out of their way to make you feel better.
3. You always have someone to road trip home with.
Your parents both live 15 mins away from each other back home, and you don't have to drive all the way home alone. It'll be snacks from Sheetz, loud obnoxious singing, and road trip games all day.
4. They're your number 1 study buddy.
Your high school sweetheart pulled those all-nighters with you in high school, and they'll do the same with you in college.
5. You never have to sleep alone.
After a long, hard day of classes and studying, you get to climb into bed with your best friend. The only hard part is deciding who's dorm to stay at and making sure that your roommates don't walk in on anything awkward.
6. You always have someone keeping you on track.
Your significant other saw how hard you worked to get into college, and they'll do everything they can to make sure that you don't throw it all away.
7. They'll always have your back if you get a bad grade.
Life happens. Sometimes, no matter how hard you study, you'll end up with one or two grades that don't meet your expectations (or four). Your significant other will have your back to comfort you, and will stand by your side to make sure it doesn't happen again.
8. Just the fact that they're yours makes college so much better.
Life is a lot more fun when you have someone to share it with. Plus, how great will it feel to be able to say you graduated from high school AND college with the love of your life?
