Here are eight reasons why your mother is probably the most under-appreciated person in your life and why we love them so much!
1. She carried you in her belly for nine or so months
She ballooned up, threw up so many mornings, she gave up caffeine, had swollen feet and ate the most bizarre foods because she was growing a little life in her.
2. She lost sleep over for the first two to eight months because of your infant-self
She could not sleep through the night. Lets all be honest, we were/are incredibly needy. From feeding us to rocking and singing us back to sleep, mom was always there to get the job done.
3. She taught you right from wrong the way she saw fit
This may have included a whole plethora of spankings, numerous weekends being grounded, and whatever ridiculous punishments she would come up with. She was just trying to make us respectable, contributing members of society.
4. She got up at some early hour of the morning to get you to school
...and then in some cases, went on to work after getting not only herself ready for the day, but you and your siblings as well. She also probably made you a yummy breakfast and possibly even lunch. What a woman!
5. She made dinner for the whole family almost every night
At the time you probably got sick of mom's spaghetti and meatloaf, but now that you have to make your own dinner or settle for sub-par cafeteria food at school, you miss the sweet aroma of mom's nightly creations from the kitchen.
6. She supported you through so many things
She was your biggest fan at your sports game, even yelled at the ref a time or two, and she was at all the recitals or concerts with the huge video camera capturing every moment no matter how treacherous your 6th grade beginning band sounded.
7. She spotted the bad friends and significant others way before you could
And when all the drama erupted so didn't even play the whole "I told you so" card. She just offered a shoulder to cry on and some very sound life advice.
8. She has shown you how to love better than anyone
Through all the spats and arguments, the door slamming and "I hate you and you're ruining my life!" screaming, she has loved you better than you could even love yourself.
Thanks mom for all these listed things above and even beyond those. Happy mother's day and please know that you deserve to be celebrated every single day, not just once a year! You are the strongest women in my life and I hope to one day love a child as well as you have loved me!
