“Are you excited to graduate?” is a question I have been frequently asked these past few months. My answer is no, I’m not.
I love college and thought of graduating gives me anxiety. Graduation means I am leaving behind quite possibly the best four years of my life; full of memories and lifestyle activities abnormal to any human not enrolled in a university.
Here is an exclusive list of the top 8 Reasons Why I love College:
1. Naps- Each morning I look forward to the time between classes when I can crawl back into my bed. Unfortunately, nap time does not exist when you have a 9-5 job. Goodbye power naps, and hello to the extra (or six) cups of coffee.
2. Ridiculous amounts of pizza - A weekend is not complete without a late-night slice of pizza, or possibly a personal-pie. So long to the days of three slices of honey mustard chicken, I know once I graduate I will not be eating nearly as much of this delicious food group.
3. Living with my best friends- I am going to miss waking up to my best friends every morning and complaining about the copious amounts of school work or hysterically laughing about the previous night’s events. Time to move back home and save some money...
4. Thirsty Thursdays- Thursdays are definitely the best day (and night) of the week in college; it's the night when the weekend's activities officially commence. After college, the thursday nights of staying up until 4am, regardless of class at 8am the next day, will be long gone.
5. The excuse, “I’m a broke college student” - Let’s face it, I use this phrase pretty much everyday. Whether I’m avoiding to pay for my groceries (sorry Mom) or avoiding to explain how all my money went towards a $275 concert ticket, unfortunately this phrase will not be valid once I graduate.6. Student Discounts- From discounts at restaurants to 15% off at clothing stores, I will miss the benefits of showing my student ID for savings. Following graduation, I will be counting down the years until that AARP card comes in the mail.
7. Greek Life - I will miss you Greek Day, formal on expensive boats and fancy galas with our best friends and parents. Being a part of the Greek Community has enhanced my entire college experience. Post graduation I will miss the excitement it brings to my everyday life.
8. Wearing gym clothes everyday- You mean I will have to actually get dressed? Time to retire the excessive variety of yoga pants and colorful quarter-zips. I guess I should invest in a new wardrobe.
As Asher Roth once said, “Do I really have to graduate or can I just stay here for the rest of my life?"
