1. It’s a Test-Run

You don’t know if a job is perfect for you until you try it. But, you don’t want to wait until you’re actually a part of the workforce. Interning makes you see all the pros and cons of your dream job.

2. ...It’ll also test your patience

When you become an intern almost anywhere, expect to do the dirty work that the full time employees either don’t have time for or don’t want to do. Whether it’s a coffee run down the street, or you have to go halfway across the whole city for a small, silly task, you will soon understand that no request is too small for you.c

3. You’ll learn the city very quickly

As mentioned before, if your internship makes you run around all day, you will have your patience tested. But, a pro to this is that you’ll learn the city you’re in in half the time. If you’re in New York, the MTA will know your face!

4. You’ll have a newfound appreciation for coffee

A lot of the time, you may have to take home your work if you’re doing a big project for someone with a close deadline. You may also have to wake up early in order to get to your internship on time. If you want to get that work done faster or get to work on time, you’ll need tons of COFFEE!

5. You’ll meet people with similar goals

At my internship, I am constantly surrounded by people who share the same dreams as I do (then again, at my internship, we’re ALL dreamers). When you’re surrounded by people who desire the same things in life as you, you’ll find yourself to be more motivated to get what you want out of life.

6. You may realize that this isn’t the life for you!

If your internship is at an office from 9-5, you handle lots of paperwork and you have to wear gray business suits from Monday to Friday, and you love it, then that’s great! But if it’s not your thing, no worries. Everyone has different preferences.

7. New Friends

If you’re in an intern program, you’ll meet a whole new group of people. You’ll also be spending five days a week with them, so expect to become close with these people over time. If that’s not the case, invite someone out to lunch one day! It never hurts to ask.

8. Memories that’ll last a lifetime

When you’re older and finally in the workforce, you can look back on all your crazy adventures as an intern. (Like that time you took the wrong train going to work and it took you three times to finally get it right, or the time that B-List Celebrity came in and threw a hissy fit right in front of you.) You can also feel for the interns that will be answering to you, because you were in their place not too long ago.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
