I would be a flat out liar if I said that looks played no role in seeking a partner. Of course we are drawn to certain men by their physical appearance -- we are genetically programmed this way. With that being said, we have all come across those guys we initially labeled as “not our type”, to later find that we are completely enamored by them, without even knowing why. We can’t always put our finger on it, but a multitude of qualities can draw a girl in without her even realizing it. Looks shmooks, these characteristics trump those any day.   

1. Sense of humor: My personal favorite trait of all time. There is no quality a man can possess that is more desirable than a killer funny bone. Every girl loves to be around a guy that keeps her laughing, as cliché as it may sound. It keeps things from getting boring.  

2. Confidence: The way a man carries himself has so much to do with the way we, as women, perceive him. If a man is comfortable with who he is, without being cocky, it will radiate in a way that attracts us. Seeing that he is sure of himself, in a non-arrogant way of course, will show there is something worthwhile we don’t know about yet.   

3. A quick wit: This quality is sometimes overlooked, but it is oh so powerful. Nothing is more attractive than a guy who can return sarcasm as quick as I can spit it at him. It may sound weird, but there is something charming about a man being a smart-ass, in a way that keeps a girl on her toes.     

4. Compassion: Seeing that a guy cares for other people and is kind goes a long way. Men that show their sweet side are far and few between, so it’s special when we get to see this side of a guy. This is why girls go nuts when guys play with babies or help someone in need.   

5. Ambition: When a guy has goals and is passionate about where he is going in life, it says a lot about who he is. There’s something sexy in seeing guy’s eyes light up when he talks about something he loves.   

6. Presence: This seems obvious, but so often men are there, without actually being engaged in what we’re saying. When a man is actually interested in what a woman has to say, it draws her to him.   

7. Being direct: It’s rare that we come across a guy that is completely open and straightforward about his intentions. It is refreshing when a guy is shamelessly honest, even if it’s not always what we want to hear... P.S. We get sick of hearing that all the time.

8. Intelligence: Good looks will eventually fade, but good conversation will not. It’s a turn on when a guy can outsmart us on something or make us think twice about what we’re saying. A smart woman will appreciate an intelligent mind.
