Coming home from college is often bittersweet; while you've missed being home, you also start to miss being at school. Here are some upsides and downsides of being a college student home for break.

Pro: You get to see your family.

Going months without seeing your parents and siblings is extremely hard! It feels good to be reunited with your family. And you are relieved to see that your pets have missed you, too.

Con: You have to follow mom and dad's rules again.

While at school, you don't have to answer to anyone besides yourself. When you come back home, you must do chores, come home at a decent hour, and all the other things that you don't miss.

Pro: Home cooked meals!

If you go to a school where the food is gross, you're probably especially excited to come home and eat mom's food. Also, you can snack all day without worrying about using meal swipes.

Con: You have no routine.

While keeping up with classes is often tiresome, at least you can keep yourself busy. While at home, you probably don't have many things to do besides sleeping or watching Netflix.

Pro: No school!

That being said, it IS nice to have a little break from schoolwork. You can use this time for a little rest and relaxation.

Con: Packing/unpacking.

It sure is a pain in the butt to have to pack all of your things to take home, only to have to re-pack them a few days later.

Pro: Sleeping in your own bed.

Dorm mattresses are usually very uncomfortable, so it feels great to sleep in your old bed again. If you have a roommate at school, you get a break from them, too.

Con: You miss your friends from school.

Sure, it's only a week, but you're used to seeing these people every day. It is often hard to say goodbye, even for short periods of time.

Coming home may be tough at times, but I believe the pros completely outweigh the cons. Take this time to enjoy your time at home and with your family. Happy spring break, everyone!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
