8 Perks Of Having A Huge Family

They always say you can't choose your family, but given the choice, would you choose to replace them anyway? I know that all of my innumerable family members and I would not. Belonging to a huge family has shown me what having real love for one another can achieve. Besides, it's a lot more fun when there's countless siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins around to help you enjoy the gift of life. Here are 8 perks of being a member of a big, loving, and entertaining family.

1. You'll never be lonely.

No matter what you're going through, you always have a family member who can relate and help you through it.

2. You and your family don't just go on vacation, you basically rent out entire resorts.

You look forward to annual family vacations because you know it will be the highlight of your year. After it's over, you're able to start your 365 day count down until next time. Shout out to Woodloch Pines in Pennsylvania for having our constantly growing family there, year after year, and treating us like family.

3. You have unbeatable holiday feasts.

You don't just stop at turkey and stuffing because there are 30 other family members who want to contribute too! Now we're talking 3 trays of baked ziti, 7 different types of salads, 2 spiral hams, appetizers galore, and all things Italian. Don't even get me started on the leftovers.

4. The holidays, in general, are always memorable.

During every holiday, you find yourself storytelling and reminiscing about unforgettable memories from years passed. Many of the stories repeat themselves, but they never seem to get old (like the story about you and your cousin sneaking out while on a family vacation at Splitrock. You can fill in the blanks). Holidays are a great time to make irreplaceable memories with the ones you love.

5. Family parties are just as memorable.

It doesn't need to be a holiday for you to get together with your family. When you have a huge family, it's always someones birthday, someones engagement party, someone's retirement party, someone's christening, someone's graduation, or even just the perfect time to throw a karaoke party. Between the food, the singing, the laughter, the wine, the chatter, and the love, family parties are the best.

6. You have a lifetime of built-in friendships that can't dissolve.

And no matter what, they are always there for you.

7. With those friendships comes a support system unlike any other.

Having a bad day? Shoot a text out to one of your 50 group chats amongst extended family and watch as the love pours in.

8. You never stop laughing... ever.

They say laughter is the best form of medicine. If this is true, you have the healthiest family in America. It's impossible to stop smiling when you're around them, especially when your brother dresses up like Caitlyn Jenner in your annual recreation of the Kardashian Christmas card.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
