8 New Year's Eve Party Ideas

Throwing the annual New Year’s Eve party can be a lot of pressure, here are eight party ideas that will help you throw the best NYE party of the season!

1. Homemade Photo Booth: This idea will make your party guests go wild, and always give them something to do! The easiest way to create a DIY photo booth is to first find a blank wall and pick the perfect background. I think keeping the background tapestry simple is better, because it allows for for decoration and accent pieces. Another background option is a DIY chalkboard or dry erase board. This is an awesome idea, because your guests can write whatever they want on the background of their pictures! Once the background is chosen it is time to decorate the area around the background. After that, you need to find accessories to use for pictures. For this I recommend looking in pinterest and printing out and decorating free printables. Finally, you can use a camera and a stand or make it a self station for the actual picture taking.

2. Freaking out about what to serve- your sparkling apple juice, or champagne in at midnight? Well, fear no more, this cool DIY will solve all of your problems! First, you need your champagne flutes, then place a piece of tape around the center. Then, cover the bottom half of the glass in glue or Mod Podge and cover it in gold or silver glitter. Also, a cute extra touch is to buy decorated straws. Then you can glue a glittered pom-pom on top of the straw. Lastly, pour your drink of choice, and you have a NYE ready drink!

3. Don’t know what treats to have? You can never go wrong with a plain candy bar. Grabbing different shaped and sized clear jars from Home Goods or TJ-Maxx is a steal! Then ordering all types of candy in one color will give your party a fun look.

4. Another super fun treat is a S'mores appetizer. All you need for this treat are graham crackers, chocolate bars, and marshmallows. This is a great treat for a party on a budget! All you have to do is take a fourth of the graham cracker, a piece of chocolate, and a marshmallow and put it all together! To add a little extra spice, you can get some edible glitter to put on the marshmallow. Attach the glitter with some vanilla frosting as glue, and you have a sparkly s'mores!

5. Not sure what to have for dinner, and don’t want to order the typical pizza? A taco bar is a fun and easy way to serve dinner without worrying about cooking for all of your guests. Just make your taco meat, chicken, or fish and grab mini bags of Doritos and Fritos for the taco shell. The bags make for easy clean up and great accessibility. Then chop lettuce, tomatoes, and the rest of you desired veggies along with cheese and sour cream and you have a DIY taco bar!

6. You can’t forget party hats and crowns either! You can go to your local party store to purchase a case of them, or you can be adventurous and try to DIY you NYE party hats! Along with your party hats, you can’t forget horns and noisemakers for the coveted moment when the clock strikes 12!

7. Every great NYE party needs balloons, streamers, and most of all glitter! All of your decorations should match in some way, shape, or form that way you have a uniform and fabulous party!

8. Lastly, something fun, but not a must, is goodie bags! Giving your guests something fun that they can take home from the night. This does not have to be a huge gift, but a little something like a mini bottle of champagne or a glass they can take home. This is something they can have as a memory of the amazing night you created!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
