Whether you're a Broadway Baby or simply a fan of musicals, it's always a great experience to see a show live. The songs, the performers, the choreography are vital to achieving an outstanding performance and to say you've seen a famous musical in person is one more step to being a well-cultured individual. That being said, here are eight that are a must-see before kicking the bucket.
8. Chicago: It's sexy, it's sassy, and it's the longest-running American musical in Broadway history. 'Nough said.
7. Aladdin: Adapted from the Disney classic, experience the world of Agrabah as you've never seen it before. And pay tribute to the original genie if you can.
6. Phantom of the Opera: A tangled triad of love encompasses this thrilling show about a disfigured man who haunts the local opera house. Their singing is pretty spectacular, too.
5. The Book of Mormon: This musical is not for the faint-hearted and if you're extremely religious, don't see it. But the tale of Elders Price and Cunningham is too funny to pass up.
4. The Lion King: This one is sure to live in you. Another musical adapted from its movie counterpart, take delight in the puppeteers as they portray the story of Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa as they take back Pride Rock.
3. Wicked: Follow the tale of both witches from The Wizard of Oz to see what they were up to before Dorothy came around. This is one to surely defy gravity.
2. Hamilton: All I have to say for this one is good luck getting tickets. It's that good.
1. Beauty and the Beast: This tale as old as time is sure to please and warm the heart of any beast. Once again based on a Disney movie, watch the Beast's castle come alive on stage and witness the most beautiful love story ever told.
