Fall break is great. It's probably one of the best breaks of the year because, depending on where you go, you're either getting your last taste of summer or your first taste of fall, both of which are great. It's also the perfect amount of time, or so you think as you leave the gates of Samford. Getting two days off? That's plenty for me to rest and rejuvenate. Not to mention catch up on things I need to do.
Then, it's Tuesday night and you're back in your room in Birmingham and realize that two days actually isn't enough. AT ALL.
1. The moment you open your car door and hear girls screaming about how they missed each other.
It's been four days. FOUR. DAYS.
2. You get back and check your planner and realize that you've done zero of the approximately 48 assignments you have due this week.
I mean, it's totally fine, though. You wake up with the effects of the sleep from two nights ago, right? You'll still be perfectly rested and rejuvenated in the morning.
3. You wake up for your first class feeling like you were run over by a truck.
Definitely not feeling rested and rejuvenated.
4. Your professor reminds you in your first class that you still forgot to turn in one assignment even though you stayed up until 3 a.m.
I am literally smiling through the tears right now.
5. You walk into the caf for lunch and remember that their definition of a "home-cooked meal" is not the same as your mom's.
Has it always been this bad? Do you know how bad this is for me?
6. Then, you talk to your friends about their fall breaks to cool places. Ex: the beach, the mountains, California, etc.
That is just so great. I am just so happy for you.
7. And you're just sitting there like:
Do you want to know what I did? Netflix and chilled. By myself. For 14 hours straight. Got through the first four seasons of "Grey's." And I'm proud.
