8 Things Every College Student Experiences Daily

It's a tough life we live.

Throughout a normal college day, every kid, doesn't matter where they go, will experience some of the same things. Whether it be roommate problems or getting back that test grade, the feelings are the same.

1. Getting ready for bed and remembering the homework you never did.

This could possibly be the worst feeling. After a long day and you finally think that it's your time to be able to relax, you remember your chem lab is due tomorrow at 10 a.m. Your world seems to burst into flames.

2. Waking up for that dreaded 8 a.m.

You think it wont be that bad when you're scheduling, but when your alarm goes off at 6:30 a.m. it actually seems impossible to get up.

3. Calculating your grades and being surprised.

Normally, it's a bad surprise. You think you did pretty well on that test you studied last minute for, but realize that procrastination really is the devil. However, you decided not to hover over it and move on with your day.

4. Going to events where you have no idea what’s going on but it’s worth the extra credit points.

Even though you don't want to learn about the history of the earth or how rocks are made, you force yourself to go because this might be the only thing to save your grade.

5. The casual mental breakdown at least twice a week.

It happens to the best of us.

6. Deciding to go out even though you have work to do.

It's a Thursday and you almost made it through the week without doing any bad things. But, I mean, it's close to the weekend, so that makes it OK, right?

7. Getting an exam and having no idea where to even begin.

You just stare blankly at the paper and definitely regret not staying the library longer than you did.

8. Waiting in line to get coffee, knowing you’re going to be late, but still continuing to wait.

This has got to be the most frustrating thing. You wake up extra early just to get Dunkin. You wait there for what seems like forever, and you realize you are still going to be late to class. By the time you notice this, it's almost your turn to order. You decide to take the deduction of points for being late and choose to get the coffee instead.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
