The Gilmore Girls Revival is countable days away and I am so excited. My Tumblr has been team Jess for the last month (but that's a story for another day) and I’ve been binge watching the old seasons, because why not, right? I've always loved the actual Gilmore Girl's relationship and their literary references give me life. Recently as I've been rewatching the seasons I realize how much of an impact Parish Geller out of all characters has had on me. She's always been a memorable character and here are a couple of the lessons she's taught me over the years:
1. Don’t be scared to go for your dreams.
She wanted to be a surgeon and a lawyer despite being terrified of sick people. Her entire educational aspirations were to be the best and she always managed to accomplish her dreams one way or another.
2. Don’t be afraid to intimidate anyone.
So, she came off strong a lot of the time. That never stopped her from continuing on with her goal of taking over the world. She was never scared of how she came off, she only worried about getting the end goal met and that's a really special way to go through life.
.
3. Sometimes being a good friend is just being there.
Even though she and Rory's relationship started off rocky, she ended up being there for her time after time during her on and off relationship with Logan. She was also never scared to stand up for Rory, even when Rory wish she didn't. What are friends for?
4. It’s ok to show some human emotion.
She was scary and intimidating at times, but she had a heart of gold when it came to the people she loved and cared about and she found her times to show it.
5. Honesty is the best policy.
Even when it hurts, Paris Geller was honest almost to a fault. Yeah, sometimes the truth hurts but it also assured that she was always 100% sure of what she wanted from herself and everyone else.
6. Sarcasm can be charming.
Don't let anyone else tell you different. Paris Geller was a pro at sarcasm and I credit her for my quick comebacks on a daily. She had no fear when it came to sarcasm.
7. Never change for anyone.
Paris ran people off accidentally and purposely at times, but the people who really loved her and admired her didn't shy away from her. Instead they stuck with her through it all. She never tried to change for anyone and she found people that accepted her for all she was.
8. It's ok to not fit into the stereotype.
She wasn't the typical girly girl or the typical college girl. Paris Geller was never typical and she knew it. Even though she had moments when she felt awkward or out of place, she pushed through them to get to be where she wanted to be.
