The "Harry Potter" novels are some of the most relatable in existence. A large part of that is because they center around school, something we all know, whether we would like to or not. Though our professors do not teach us magic or potions, they are in many ways just like the ones in "Harry Potter."
1. Albus Dumbledore — The Eccentric Mentor
We have all had that teacher. When we are up against a wall and don't know what to do, they are the one we turn to. They always seem to have the answers, and they are often happy to share them. I say often because they sometimes do make you figure things out for yourself. Despite their genius, they are rather eccentric. They do odd things (like begin speeches with "nitwit blubber oddment tweak" or wear a bonnet they get out of a Christmas cracker.) Not to mention their wardrobe, which is always just as unique as they are... "unique." Even with their quirks, we love them and don't know what we would do without them.
2. Minerva McGonagall — The Strict One
Professor McGonagall is a severe and strict woman. When a teacher like Professor McGonagall sweeps into the classroom we all shiver. They enforce a rigid set of rules on their students, and hold our work to incredibly high standards. Despite all this, we love these teachers, or at least most of the time. They may be strict on the outside but on the inside they are usually big softies, not to mention they often teach us more than anyone else.
3. Professor Quirrell — The Nervous Wreck
4. Rubeus Hagrid — The Sweet One
5. Remus Lupin — The Fun Friend
A teacher like Remus Lupin is one of everyone's favorites. Their classes are fun and exciting, and their lectures teach you more than most of your professors put together. They sometimes incorporate fun games and music into class. They are usually younger than the average professor, but if they are older they are more hip and modern than any other professor on campus.
6. Gilderoy Lockhart — The Fraud

We all know that professor: they are supposedly brilliant and their research is world renowned. Except you simply cannot find any evidence of their intelligence at all. Their lectures are boring and usually, lead back to their personal lives or own research. At the end of every class, you are left wondering just how great can their own work be if they are staying at your university?
7. Severus Snape — The Total Grouch

Nobody wants a teacher like Severus Snape. He is spiteful, rude and picks favorites. Whether we want a teacher like Snape or not, most of us have had one. They terrorize all students and even some of their colleagues. While Snape is somewhat redeemed by his tragic past, I'd hate to imagine every grouchy teacher we come along is burdened with the same sad life.
8. Dolores Umbridge — The Tyrant
9. Professor Sprout — The Mother
Though Professor Sprout is only briefly seen in the books and movies, she comes across as a sweet and nurturing individual. Teachers like Professor Sprout are the mother replacement for students who live far away from home. They are sweet and funny, and always willing to help you out. You are always hearing good things about this professor and only grow to love them even more as stories of their love of every student meet your ears.
10. Professor Flitwick — The Scholar
Like Professor Sprout, Flitwick is seldom seen in the movies or books. Despite this fact, however, he leaves a lasting impression when seen. Though rather sweet, Flitwick seems like the sort of professor we have all had. They are just too smart for their own good. These sorts of professors run a very organized classroom, with everything being done in a neat, fastidious manner. While hard, these professors can teach us a lot if we want them to.
