8 Gifts for Book Lovers

With the holiday season fast approaching, many of us are still scrambling to get our ducks in a row and get all the gifts we need for friends and family. And chances are, even if you don't celebrate anything at this time of year, you're going to need to get a gift for someone at some point in the near future. Or hey, maybe you're just looking to #treatyoself. With that in mind, I've created a (hopefully) handy guide for those looking to get something unique for their favorite book lovers who might not be sure where to start. It's by no means extensive, but it contains some of my favorite items and shops that I've collected over my ridiculously nerdy lifetime.

1. Book Clutches

Like every good bookworm, I make sure to take a book everywhere I go. But these gorgeous handmade bags give you the special ability to carry around a book inside a book, all while looking effortlessly classy.

2. Literary Cuffs

Take your favorite book quotes with you every where you go with these specialty bracelets! The featured passages range from romantic to inspiring to spooky--whatever you're in the mood for.

3. Today I'm Reading...

I have this problem where I keep buying mugs en masse when I actually only need one or two. But of the bunch, this one is probably my personal favorite. The machine-washable chalk mug pictured above is the perfect way to show everyone what's you're reading obsession at the moment, since for some reason people get annoyed if you just go up to them and start gushing nonstop in person.

4. Nerdy Animal Bookworms

These adorable felt bookmarks are the perfect way to ensure you'll always have a friend reading with you every time you open up your book.

5. Specialty Journals

Since reading and writing go together like peanut butter and jelly, have where you write pay homage to a work you love! Who knows, maybe it'll inspire you.

6. Quotable Throw Pillows

Nothing's better than getting cozy with a book you love. Now you can cuddle up with a pillow that that reflects this universal truth.

7. Bookish Pins

I'm obsessed with these stunning handmade literary pins. Each one is only an inch tall, but they do a wonderful job of capturing the essence of their respective books.

8. Novel Scarves

With the colder months upon us, we could all use a way to keep warm--and what better way that draping yourself in your favorite books!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
