8 Food Struggles At Westfield State That You Forgot About Over Break

Well, we're back! Classes are up and running, you've started hanging out with your friends again, and you're pumped to be back at school (kind of). What are you going to miss most about home? Could it be your friends from home? Your pets? Your parents? Probaby not -- you are most likely going to miss home cooked meals and the convenience of eating at home. Westfield State can be a real hassle when it comes to food! Check out these struggles that you may have forgot about over the winter break.

1. You go to the DC to eat, and end up not wanting anything

.

How could you forget? The Dining Commons is the easiest and most convenient way to eat on campus. But, you always forget to check the menu every time you go to eat there, and end up not liking any of the meals that they have. Looks like another deli sandwich for dinner!

2. You’re probably going to get Pandini’s at least once a week.

Because you can never find anything in the DC to eat and have zero times to sit down for a meal, you know that you will absolutely be eating quite a bit of Pandini's. Let's hope the menu is correct! Did you forget how great Pizza Wednesdays are?

3. You are going to crave the Perch late night.

It's almost midnight, you're hanging out with you friends, and someone does it; they say, "Anyone want the Perch?" Your mind immediately starts thinking about fries, mozzarella sticks, smoothies, and all the other extremely unhealthy and expensive food that you are now craving. Time to walk across campus and get some food!

4. You were pumped for your $150 in Sodexo Bucks, but you know they won't last until Spring Break.

Nothing is better than starting off the semester with an account full of Sodexo bucks! You can have all the coffee, mozza sticks, Quixote's, and smoothies that you want -- until you run out, that is. I know what you're thinking: "I'm going to save my Sodexo Bucks this semester, and have coffee money saved up for finals." Good luck with that!

5. You are already sick of the line at Dunkin’ Donuts.

You just got out of your 8:15 class and all you have been thinking about for the full 50 minutes is grabbing that sweet iced coffee at Dunks. Of course, by the time you get there, the line is out the door of Ely. If you wait in this line, you'll absolutely be late to your next class. Looks like you'll have to wait awhile longer for that pick-me-up.

6. You want to grab something at the Marketplace, but everything is too expensive.

You really don't feel like going to the DC, you're sick of Pandini's, and Quixote's and the Perch are closed. So, you head to the Marketplace in New Hall to grab a small TV dinner and snack. You get to the counter, and see that your total for a small microwave mac 'n cheese plate, half pint of Ben & Jerry's, and drink is over $12. *Eye Roll* Don't they know that you're a broke college kid?

7. You are probably going to order Wings Over Westfield more than you should.

Since you have exhausted all of your dining options on campus, it seems like Wings is your last resort. The next worry is the ultimate struggle -- do you get a DC-3 or DC-10?

8. You are too broke and lazy to cook your own meals, so you really have no reason to complain.

At the end of the day, you know that you could go ahead and make some meals on your own -- but you are either too broke to afford groceries, too lazy to slave over a stove to cook for just one person, or a combination of both. So, suck it up, and deal with the food options on campus!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
