Sometimes going on the same kind of dates with your loved one can get old, no matter how in love you are. After a while, the dinner and movie routine may leave you wanting to update your date night. Here are some ideas that keep my relationship exciting and alive!
1. Get in a great arm workout and go canoeing!
Getting in touch with nature is always enjoyable, but it's even more special when you're with your loved one. It allows you to take a step back from society and meditate on the simple things in life.
2. Zoo Lights in Columbus is always romantic and cheery for the holidays!
In the winter, it is easy to get cabin fever. This will shake up your winter blues and get you in a cheery mood! So throw on some warm clothes and prepare for a beautiful, light-filled adventure with Christmas carols and hot cocoa! Going in the summer time isn't half bad, either.
3. Scavenger hunts can show your significant other how much you love him/her.
It's always sweet to surprise your significant other by taking them on an unexpected scavenger hunt. You can leave clues at the places you frequently visit, where you met and end at a romantic spot where you can have some sweet cuddles and kisses! Remembering the little things that your partner likes or little things that you've noticed will make him or her feel very special and appreciated.
4. Restaurant hopping makes meals more exciting!
When you and the bae can't decide where to eat, eat at all of the places! Typically, restaurant hopping starts with drinks at one place, then an appetizer somewhere else, a meal at the next place, and then dessert at another place! The first time I went restaurant hopping, my girlfriend forgot her wallet so I came up with the idea that I would pay for an appetizer at the place we were, then we would run back to my place and get her wallet and hop to a couple other places. This idea made for a fantastic date, and she forgot all about the wallet mishap!
5. Cook a meal together.
This is especially fun to do on a whim. When you don't have any meals planned, cook up random items! You might be surprised which foods taste good together. Or if you and your love want to plan a romantic meal, it's fun to go grocery shopping and cook everything together — good bonding, plus an extra set of hands in the kitchen!
6. Go to your favorite location and dance to Frank Sinatra.
This is especially fun around the holidays. Take a walk in a winter wonderland, stop under some pretty lights or at a scenic area and show your guy or girl your moves!
7. Hit up the hipster coffee shops!
Hipster coffee shops are a good place to chill out with your significant other. They are also fun when there's an open mic night! You'll be chilling with your bae all night long over a bold cup of coffee, or a yummy treat.
8. Get inspired by going to an art museum.
Either you'll be intrigued by the art, history or both! This is a fun date to really learn about your partner's interests and ideas of beauty. You can talk about the good, the bad, the ugly and whatever your heart desires.
These dates have really strengthened my relationship and have created some wonderful memories.
