8 Dates That Are Great For The Winter In St. Louis

Need a date idea for the harsh winter in St. Louis? Here are eight of them!

1. Ice Skating at Steinberg Skating Rink

This is one of the most popular activities in the St. Louis area in the winter. The rink is in Forest park and is one of the BIGGEST outdoor rinks in the Midwest. YAY St. Louis for achieving something!!! I can't think of a better date with an SO or a bestie for the restie. After you do a few laps hand-in-hand, you can head inside to warm up with hot chocolate. And spill it on yourself if you're like me. Great first impression, am I right?

2. Sledding

There are so many great places to go sledding in the wonderful city. Art Hill in Forrest Park is perhaps the most ell known, but there is also Blanchette Park, the dam at Lake St. Louis, Suson Park, and Bluebird Park. Sledding is just fun no matter how old you are.

3. Watching bald eagles

Missouri is the perfect place for watching these beautiful creatures. Head over to the Chain of Rocks Bridge to watch them perch along the water. A fun fact for yourself today is that Bald Eagles mate FOR LIFE! Name a better thing to witness while on a date! For all you college students out there, this one is FREEEEE!!! You can also meet an eagle at the Alton Visitor Cnter on Saturdays.

4.  Winter Wonderland at Tilles Park

This place gets pretty hectic, but the massive amounts of overwhelming and bright as H*** lights make up for it. If you're not one who particularly enjoys children, maybe stay away from this one.

5. The St. Louis zoo

This option does cost... boooo from the college students!!!! but, it is only $10 or less each day. The lights that the zoo are beautiful and magical and make for great pictures. Spending hours outside in the winter does get really cold, so this is a perfect time to wrap up in your SO's arms and get all nice and toasty with a hot cocoa (with Rum Chata if that's what floats your boat). In fact, this is where my boyfriend and I had our first date! Somehow, we're even still together. If you get there during the day, you can even watch the cute little penguins march through the zoo. HOW CUTE!!!!!

6. Slam Underground

The Saint Louis Art Museum offers a free music series on the last Friday of every month. I mean... its FREE!!! who doesnt like free? Especially FREE MUSIC!!! You do have to have a ticket to get in, but again, they are FREE and near the information desk at the entrance. This one is especially a nice option because if the first date is not going well, you can just ignore each other and enjoy the music. It's a win-win!!

7. Tubing, Skiing, and Snowboarding

Hidden valley is rather expensive, but is such a thrilling place. This place is especially great because St, Louis is not known for its incredible snow falls. At Hidden Valley, there's ALWAYS good snow. If you do chose to partake in any of these activities, make sure you wear waterproof clothing. I may or may not have made this mistake one... or twice.

8. Lights at the Anheuser Busch Brewery

There are self guided light tours, live music, food, and BEER!!! FREE BEER!!!! Who doesn't like free beer?! And I guess Christmas lights?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
