Everyone asks me how old I am and they are usually shocked whenever I tell them my age. I always get replies like, "There's no way you're that young!" or "You're mature for your age!" Being mature for my age has helped me in more ways than I can imagine.

Here are 8 common qualities of someone who lives with an old soul:

1. You act older than you are.

You are able to handle situations a lot differently than people your age. Having matured quickly helps you to think through before acting on a situation.

2. You don't have many friends that are younger or the same age as you.

Some people younger or the same age as you seem to be immature, but it may be that they have not matured as quickly as you have. It's perfectly okay to have younger and the same-aged friends, but I know personally it can be challenging to get along.

3. You stay home a lot more than people your age.

You don't have the urge to go out and party like everyone else. You'd rather spend your weekends watching Netflix and eating everything in the house than getting ready for the club.

4. You get mistaken for the wrong age often.

Two years older. Three years older. No one ever guesses your age right. You always get mistaken to be older than you are.

5. You get along easier with adults.

You are comfortable and able to hold mature conversations with adults. Often enough, whenever I go over to a friend's house, I find myself carrying on more conversations with the parents than my friend.

6. You have high expectations when it comes to friendships and relationships.

You expect other people to be as mature as you are and to act the way you do. Being that you act older, you expect your friends and your significant other to do the same. It's okay to have friends and a significant other who are not exactly as mature as you, but sometimes it can make getting a long a little difficult.

7. You have "parent like" qualities at a young age.

Your friends become your so-called kids. You check on them constantly and make sure they are okay at all times. You drop everything just to answer a phone call from them. And if you're like me, you even make sure they ate enough whenever you are with them.

8. People tend to trust you with more things.

Others are more willing to confide in you with confidential things in their life. You are trusted more because you are mature enough to keep people's privacy private.

Having an old soul in today's world has its perks. I've been able to learn more about myself and about others in many ways. I'm grateful to have the old soul that I do because I am able to take on challenges in a different way than most 19-year-old's would.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
