Sixteen years ago, we said goodbye to Cory, Topanga, Mr. Feeney and the rest of the "Boy Meets World" Cast. As of 2014, we have "Girl Meets World," which is arguably a well-done show in its own right, but could never replace the ABC original. "Boy Meets World" was not just light-hearted entertainment, a show filled with silly jokes, but taught us many things about friendship, love and life. Much can be taken away from this beloved series, as proven by the quotes below.
1. If you let people's perception of you dictate your behavior, you'll never grow as a person
My. Feeney was definitely onto something during his conversation with Cory after class. Everyone will form an opinion of you, and the way you are perceived to be by someone may not always accurately reflect your personality or who you are. So there's no reason to let the opinions of another change the way you act.
2. There's going to be a lot of changes in your life Cory. It's not the changes that matter. It's how you react to the changes. That's what makes you who you are
Leave it to Eric Matthews to serve up some valuable life advice. Things happen that are out of control all the time. You can't control what happens to you, but you can control your reaction to these events, good or bad. That's what decides the person you're going to be.
3. Unfortunately, we live in a society where they tell us we have to look a certain way, so we're all under pressure to live up to unrealistic expectations
There's no doubt that we live in an age that imposes impossible beauty standards on both genders, but women especially. We can try to fight it, in fact, we should. But to deny that these standards still exist would be to say that these pressures aren't real. That's just simply not true. All we can do is try to rise above the 'noise' and remind ourselves that we are better than what society tries to convince us to believe.
4. No matter how difficult life gets, the important thing is to live with hope
Topanga's words of wisdom. Hope can give you something if you 're suddenly left with nothing else, In a highly unpredictable world, if you don't have hope, you truly have nothing.
5. Life's tough. Get a helmet
No need to explain this one.
6. You don't have to be blood to be family
Family are the people who are there for you during life's ups and downs, the people who support and love you. Just as the saying goes, friends are the family you can choose.
7. I walk alone in this world, except for the grilled cheese sandwich in my pocket
So relatable. When everyone else leaves you, food remains. Grilled cheese listens. Grilled cheese understands.
8. I don't know what's gonna happen to me but I do know that I'm gonna be a good person who cares about people. And I blame you for that
