Having an older sister, I have found the benefits of having a sibling:
- They will always be your best friend. Sometime in your life, they will be one of your greatest friends, whether this friendship is in your late teens or later in life. They will probably be your first friend. Even though you fight and pull each other's hair out, you're still siblings.
- They will always be there to talk to. Countless times I have talked to my sister about my most inner secrets that I would not share with anyone. Like a best friend they are always there with an open ear.
- Along with being your best friend, they teach you how to be a good friend. They will listen to your rants about your friends and give you advice.
- If you are a younger sibling you get your siblings protection. They help you through all the bumps in the road that you will face. From the first day of high school to your last day of college they will be with you through it all and everything in between.
- You can blame everything on them. When you have a sibling the attention is shared mostly by the parents, so you can pull crazy things off. Of course, you then blame it on your sibling and get away with it.
- Siblings will always be proud of each other. We are your biggest fan at that game you played at last night. We were also the loudest in the stands, cheering you on.
- You can always joke around and be yourself around with them. I have several inside jokes with my sister. The time that you spend as friends you will create a huge list of your inside jokes for all times and places. You can be whoever you want to be in front of your sibling and they will still be your best friend no matter what.
- You can do chores with them. I find it much easier to start blasting some music and split the dish washing load between ourselves. You don't have to worry about doing that pan because your sister will take care of it as long as you do the plates and knives. Also if something doesn't get done you can, of course, blame it on them.
