35 Thoughts You Have While Getting Up And Going To Your 8:00 A.M. Class

If you've ever taken a class during the dreaded 8:00 A.M. time slot, you know the struggle. You shuffle along, caffeinated beverage in hand, exhausted out of your mind. In my case, the class I signed up for at 8:00 was a requirement for my major. Not only that, it was a prerequisite class for another required course. I didn't think the struggle would be as real as it was. I got through it, but it wasn't the best experience. Here is a list of 35 thoughts you've absolutely had while trying to make it to your 8:00 class.

1. Ugh, it's TOO EARLY

2. Is it even worth going to class today?

3. There's a test next week, he might do a review session today.

4. Did we have homework?

5. OK, let's get this done.

6. Coffee, check. Notebook, check. Hope and joy? Ehhh...

7. It's so cold, what in the world?

8. Why does this class have to be across campus?

9. Seriously, who decided this was a good idea?

10. *sips coffee* Ahh, my saving grace.

11. I should've switched into a later section...

12. At least this class will be done sooner rather than later.

13. And my afternoon will be free time (never actually happens).

14. OK, if she doesn't move...

15. Stay calm, some people are just slow walkers

16. But I have SOMEPLACE TO BE!!!

17. Finally, I can pass.

18. Why are they yelling? It's 7:53 in the morning, it's too early for yelling, PATRICIA!!!!

19. Am I forgetting something?

20. If I am, it's too late to go get it now.

21. More coffee, please

22. Oh, look, person! HI PERSON!

23. Oh God, another person. *speedwalking* Please don't see me, please don't see me, please don't see...

24. Come on, how much further? How am I only halfway there?

25. I'm so tired.

26. How was I awake this early every day for high school?

27. I should really go to sleep earlier.

28. I'm not going to, though.

29. I'm never taking an 8:00 a.m. again.

30. Hopefully (best friend in class) will be there today.

31. Finally, there's the building.

32. *large group of people crosses street* Where did they come from?

33. Seriously, why are so many people up this early?

34. Damn, I'm gonna be late

35. OK, here we are. *Breathe* Let's get this over with.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
