Every year, New Year's Eve is highly anticipated as a magical evening. You get dressed up, there's parties everywhere, and you're celebrating bringing in the new year only to receive the most perfect kiss at midnight. Almost sounds too good to be true. But let's face it, what New Year's Eve seems like it should be and what it really is are two totally different things.

1. Finding the perfect dress

You're thinking of wearing something something sexy with sparkles to show off for the evening.

You've tried on your whole closet and end up re-wearing a dress you only wore once. Barely counts as outfit-repeating, right?

2. Your Plans For The Night

Time to get the whole friend group together and go out for a night to remember.

The day before comes around and you still don't know the plan so you decide to just "roll with it."

3. A Drama Free Evening

That night is a chance to spend time with your gals making memories that will be great stories to tell in the morning.

Two hours in, one friend has gotten too drunk, one runs off with a guy, and one is crying so you're left with half the squad.

4. Going Into The New Year

You can't wait to see the ball drop and shout the countdown!

You end up either getting too drunk or too tired and don't even make it to midnight

5. Getting A New Year's Kiss

Everyone is on the prowl to find an attractive guy with hopes he'll be your midnight kiss.

No luck in finding a suitor so you're scrambling around during the 10-second countdown only to kiss your champagne bottle at midnight (that's not too terrible, right).

6. Party All Night Long

Everyone will be partying until the sun comes up.

It turns 12:01 and people start to leave...

7. The Morning After

So excited because "new year, new me", am I right?!

But then you wake up still tired, realizing it's just another morning.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
