So it's that time of the year again. You've been through the whole semester, break is right around the corner, and yet you're stuck in school for finals week. You’ve tried and tried but you can’t find the motivation to study for the millionth time. Netflix is one click away, your Apple TV is practically calling you from across the room. You finally give in -- here’s what you should watch:
1. Jane the Virgin
Take my word for it, you’ll love it. It seems dumb and completely unrealistic, but it’s entertaining and contains characters which will leave you completely in love with the TV show. Golden Globe winner Gina Rodriguez is a star, and her chemistry with both Justin Baldoni and Brett Dier leaves fans torn between being Team Rafael or Team Michael (Team Michael all the way, btw). Jaime Camil and the narrator provide most of the show’s best lines and comedic moments, which alleviate you for a few seconds while you try to catch up on everything that is going on in the series. It’s entertaining, and season 1 is already on Netflix - if you’re especially quick, though, you can watch season 2 on www.cwtv.com.
2. Gilmore Girls
Have you heard the news about the Gilmore Girls revival and not understood what all the hype is about? Take a trip to Stars Hollow, Connecticut, and fall in love with the story of Lorelai and Rory. With a beautiful mother and daughter dynamic as its central theme, Gilmore Girls is witty and funny but equally as touching. You won’t regret investing your time on the show (and forgive me after you become obsessed and count the days until the new episodes premiere on Netflix).
3. Friends

Because there is nothing better than just re-visiting the characters you’ve known so well and love so much, is there? Every episode is uplifting and short, proving perfect for a study break. Re-watch the ten seasons and hope for a (real) reunion soon.
4. Modern Family
A more modern take on humor, Modern amily never disappoints. The complicated family dynamics juxtaposed with simple everyday life make the show relatable and addicting. Literally everyone can identify with one of the characters on the show. Sit back and worry about another family’s problems for a while.
5. Grey’s Anatomy
This is an emotional investment, but I don’t regret it at all. I watched the eleven seasons in three months last year, and love the show to this day. It made me laugh, cry, cheer, but mostly cry again. The characters are beautifully complex, the script enthralling and full of surprises (most of which you must already know, thanks Facebook) and the most amazing cliffhangers. If you’re taking biology, chemistry, or are a pre-med major this may even count as studying!
6. New Girl
Zooey Deschanel. Three guys. Sharing a loft. Need I say more? New Girl is a great take on humor catered and made by a younger audience, the characters are interesting and entertaining, and there has rarely been such great chemistry between a group of four roommates. Watch out for Schmidt, he delivers the best lines.
7. Jessica Jones
If you’re into superheroes (and you don’t have to be super into it, just enjoy and respect the idea of them) and badass women, you’ll love Jessica Jones. Krysten Ritter, normally known for her comedic roles like in Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23 (another must see, take note) shows a darker side when she takes on Jessica Jones. The season is short, and deals with important themes like psychological abuse and feminism (because Jessica is a badass role model). The series is filled with suspense and well made episodes, and the story gets even better as you watch more of it.
