7 Times Lorelai And Rory Reminded Me Of My Mom And I

I binge-watched all six seasons of Gilmore Girls and A Year in the Life in six weeks. It didn't take long for me to realize how blessed I was to have a relationship with my mom, similar to the one that Rory had with Lorelai.

1. Rory's First Day at Chilton.

I laughed at this episode when Lorelai came running down the stairs, late to take Rory to school for her first day at Chilton. My mom is the kind who tries to keep us moving to get ready, but it is always my brothers and I who are all finished and waiting for her at the bottom of the stairs.

2. When Lorelai and Rory Committed to Attending Four Thanksgiving Dinners.

Lorelai is a lot like my mom, never wanting to let anyone down. I cannot count how many times my mom has overbooked her schedule in order to make sure that everyone feels loved and important to her.

3. The Time They Backpacked Through Europe Together.

Just like the Gilmore girls, my mom and I LOVE taking trips together. We haven't made it as far as Europe yet, but there is still time!

4. Having Code Words.

My mom and I don't always talk in code, but we do have our own distinct set of code words... especially when we're talking about boys.

5. Zero Secrets.

Similar to the zero secert policy between this mother-daughter duo, my mom knows everything about my life. There isn't a single thing I have been too ashamed to tell her... even if it took a little bit of time to do so.

6. All The Coffee.

It doesn't matter what language it's in... it's still COFFEE. My mom and I love getting coffee together, no matter what cup of the day we're on. It's when we talk best.

7. Rory's Graduation Speech.

I didn't speak at my graduation, nor was I the valedictorian, but I can easily say that my mom did an incredible job raising me for the last 18+ years and I can agree with Rory when she says that all she ever wanted was to be just like her.

I love you Mom!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
