The 7 Best Thrift Shops Near Wheaton College
Ryan Lewis

I was going to thrift stores long before Macklemore decided thrifting was cool and wrote a rap about it. The area around Wheaton College is full of great thrift stores, which many students take full advantage of. My cousin and I are constantly visiting thrift shops and adding to our collection of ugly sweaters. Whether it's bigger chain stores like Goodwill or smaller independent resale shops, the thrifting in the Wheaton area is top-notch.

These seven stores are some of my favorite thrift shops in the Wheaton area:

1. Twice is Nice

Twice is Nice is owned and operated by College Church in Wheaton, and all of the shop's proceeds go to Outreach Community Ministries. This resale shop is great for clothes, household items and books. There are always great sales, and everything is reasonably priced.

The store's address is 893 East Geneva Road, Carol Stream, IL 60188.

2. STARS Resale Shop

STARS is also owned by College Church in Wheaton, through the church's disability ministry. The ministry is run on donations, and the shops proceeds go towards ministering to people with developmental disabilities, as well as their families. Over 130 families in the Wheaton area participate in the STARS ministry. This shop is great for finding clothes, knick-knacks, furniture and other household items. The staff is always super friendly and helpful!

The store's address is 1072 College Avenue, Wheaton, IL 60187.

3. Goodwill

Goodwill is your classic thrift store that has almost everything you need. They have a great selection of clothing, shoes, household items, picture frames, and more. The store is often very picked over, so make sure you get there earlier in the day. The prices are a little steep for a thrift store, but overall there is a nice selection.

The store's address is Geneva Crossing, 520 S. Schmale Rd, Carol Stream, IL 60188

4. Wise Penny Resale Shop

Wise Penny is located right in Downtown Wheaton! I personally find this one to be a hit or miss store. They have an amazing furniture selection and lots of kitchenware and books as well.

The store's address is 122 N. Main St, Wheaton, IL 60187

5. Treasure House

Treasure House is operated by Metropolitan Family Services, and is located right in downtown Glen Ellyn. They always have a great selection of antiques, furniture, clothes and accessories. The clearance and sale items are definitely a great bargain as well!

The store's address is 497 Pennsylvania Ave, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137

6. The Salvation Army Family Store

The Salvation Army easily has the best deals. Some of the items can be a bit junky, but you can also find some incredible prices on clothing. I've had really great luck finding clothes here, as the selection is extremely large.

The store's address is 91 North Ave, Glendale Heights, IL 60139

7. Savers

Savers is another great chain thrift store. The prices are unusually high for a resale store, but the choices are usually a bit nicer. I have found an abundance of sweaters and other knick-knacks there.

The store's address is Windfall Plaza, 1231 N Gary Ave, Carol Stream, IL 60188

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
