7 Things to Do While in San Francisco During the Summer

San Francisco has recently become the center city of the world! If you are visiting this popular destination, here are some fun things to do to avoid the typical boring tourist trap:

7. Head to a Giants game.

Even if the boys in orange and black aren't playing your favorite team, head on out for either a day game for something a little more laid back. If you are looking for more of a party, definitely snag some bleacher seats for cheap prices on StubHub. If you are over 21 be sure to grab a few drinks at MoMo's right across from AT&T Park. Do not forget your Giants gear!

6. Soak up the sun at the beach.

San Francisco is known for its fog, but just over the bridge and around the corner you will find the sunny spot of the Bay called Stinson Beach. The water may not be as warm as our Southern California rivals, but with the usual highs of mid-70s to upper-80s, you can definitely get a tan. The cute beach town will make you feel right at home, and if you're hungry, The Lunch Box just up the road will appease your appetites.

5. Indulge yourself with the Bay's best ice-cream sandwiches.

If you cross the Bay Bridge you will find yourself in a little town called Berkley, acknowledged for its esteemed hippie school by all, but only the insiders know about CREAM, potentially the best ice-cream sandwiches in the country (but that's just my opinion). For only $2, you can have your choice of any warm fresh baked cookies to smother your just as delicious ice-cream in. So after you catch an amazing show at the Berkley Greek Theater, go down the street and treat yo'self. My favorite? The white chocolate macadamia nut cookie with mint chocolate chip ice-cream.

4. San Francisco: The Gayest Place on Earth!

The Gay Pride Festival in San Francisco is something that I personally look forward to every year. Everyone from all walks of the Bay come together in this two day pure love fest. Taking place this year on June 27-28, this weekend hosts countless numbers of booths, musical acts, and fun activities that is literally designed for all ages and sexual orientations. The main attraction, the parade, stretches for miles into the city and encompasses the best floats from different organizations from all around the Bay Area. This festival of acceptance will definitely have you feel the neighborly love.

3. Treasure Island Flea Market.

On the last weekend of every month, this event brings about over 400 vendors that sell unique items from handmade clothing to crazy art, and everything else in between. You will also love the delicious and local food trucks that will bring you the true SF experience.

2. The West Marin Inkwells.

Need a place to cool off but want to do a little hiking too? Drive about 40 minutes outside of the city to the truest hidden gem of the Bay Area. These pristine natural water pools are absolutely a beautiful, fun, and relaxing way to get away from any type of town or city. With a bridge that you can jump off of (with caution) into the cool springs and warm rocks to tan on, go with a group of friends and have a picnic here in the deep woods of Lagunitas.

1. Watch the sunset in the Headlands.

Go over the Golden Gate Bridge again, take the first left, and drive into the rolling hills of the Marin Headlands. Here you will find yourself taken aback by the overwhelming yet welcoming site of the Pacific Ocean from high up. While here, you will find potentially one of the most beautiful sunset spots in the world and a site you will never experience anywhere else.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
