7 Things To Do Over Spring Break If You're Not Going Away

Spring break is an exciting time. Beaches, partying, drinking — the whole nine yards. Unfortunately, if you haven't planned an elaborate getaway to a tropical island with a group of your friends because you can't afford it or your parents just were not down, spring break can get a little dull.

Luckily, there are some fun and productive things you can do to distract yourself from the fact that instead of getting drunk on a beautiful beach, you're sitting on your couch watching "Bob's Burgers."

1. Spring cleaning.

What better way to be productive over spring break than to finally organize your bedroom desk that you haven't used since sophomore year of high school. Who knows? Maybe you'll finally find your Tamagotchi that's been missing for eight years.

2. Catch up on "Grey's Anatomy."

Admit it, you've been putting off finishing this show since the day you accidentally read online that your favorite character was going to die. It's a life changing experience that we all have to endure, so go ahead, finish it.

3. Work out.

Although you won't be showing off your bod on the beaches of Miami like the rest of your friends, why not get a head start for this summer. Instead of sulking about how great your friends look in their bikinis, go ensure that you will too.

4. Visit your grandma.

You only get so many breaks during the semester and she misses you. Maybe you'll even get your favorite cookies out of it.

5. Go to all the delis from your hometown.

Everyone knows one of the best parts of being home is finally getting a Parkway Hero and diabetes filled Parkway Mix iced coffee. Utilize the time home to your benefit and fill your stomach with quality cold cuts and sodium filled condiments.

6. Stalk the Facebook pictures of your friends on vacation.

It's inevitable; you're going to do it. So at some point, you're gonna have to give in and cry onto your keyboard at all of the pictures of your friends enjoying a margarita by the pool and going clubbing every night.

7. Online shopping.

While the rest of your friends are wasting their time having the time of their lives, you can purchase the trendiest spring wardrobe to come back to school in. While they're sporting their tan, you'll be sporting a brand new sundress from Brandy Melville. Who's the real winner here?

Spring break doesn't have to be the most depressing part of your year. Show your friends that even though you aren't going to Cancun to dance on a booze cruise and get a killer tan, you can still spend your time productively (without the hangover).

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
