Summer is in full-swing and the novelty of finally being home is starting to wear off. Now that you've seen everyone and gone to all the places that you've missed, the days start to get longer. My work doesn't start for another week and I am running out of things to fill my time. These couple suggestions are activities that I have found make the day more enjoyable.

1. Read a book

There is something amazing about getting lost in a book and realizing that you have been reading for hours.

2. Color

I find coloring to be relaxing and fun. I love being able to see the progress that I make with each stroke.

3. Try a new workout

Since coming home, I am trying to find different workouts that I am motivated enough to keep doing. Switching up workout routines helps me stay active and interested.

4. Find new restaurants

This one can be dangerous, especially if your on a budget like me. I do not do this one often, but whenever you find that cute coffee shop or amazing taco restaurant you will not be able to imagine what your life was like without it.

5. Have a picnic

My friends and I often do this right on lake Michigan. It's a great way to get outside and enjoy the company of your friends.

6. Do a craft

I am pretty unartistic, so a craft takes up a lot of my time. Similar to coloring, I like to see the progress I am making and at the end you will have something to show for your efforts.

7. Organize your room

This task occupied me for days. Especially coming home from college, I found it helpful to go through all my drawers to know what was in them. This also helped make my room feel like my own space again.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
