They seem like ordinary friends...they text you, lend you money, and tag you in relevant blog links...but mix them all together and you create something beautiful and new. You get constant laughter, witty comebacks, inside jokes and the warm fuzzy feeling that completes all these. Apart you are just people, but together, you are a squad.
Squads bring with them a special type of love you can't find elsewhere, and give all areas of life an extra spark. Here are seven things that are better with your squad.
1. Texting.
Sure, your phone buzzing 10 times in one minute while you're in a meeting can get annoying, but it's all worth it when you read the witty banter that was had while you were unavailable. In an eight-person group chat, there's never a dull text conversation.
2. Parties.
When you have a squad, you never have to feel alone at a party. While Ali is catching up with an old friend, you eat some snacks with Nick and Alison. When Nick goes to the bathroom, you hang out with Abby and Brynn. When Abby and Brynn leave, you play some games with Emma and Porter.
3. Road trips.
Who needs the alphabet game when your squad's favorite musical soundtrack is blasting in the car and everyone's singing so loudly that you can't hear yourself think? Mix that with a few cat stories, face swaps, and someone passing around of a funny meme they found on their phone, and you have a squad road trip!
4. Birthdays.
Cards are nice and so are gifts, but your squad collaborating on a birthday surprise brings a sentiment unmatched by even the tastiest cake.
5. Games.
Your squad is so comfortable with each other that the taunting and uncontrollable laughter begins right away, doesn't stop, and only the fear of failing your next exam can tear you away from the next round of Mafia.
6. Crying.
No amount of venting, chocolate, or hugs can undo the pain of a breakup, or the death of a loved one — but it can bring new memories and laughter, which keep the hope of better days alive. Just a text away, your squad's support makes the pain a bit more bearable.
7. Existing.
Even when nothing interesting is happening (while Brynn is home for the weekend, Ali is at work, and Alison is writing a paper), even while you're all apart, the love you have for them makes your moments more special.
There is no explanation for the perfect combination of personalities finding one another except that it was a gift from God. You are all beautifully different and indispensable.
To a squad like no other: Alison, Nick, Porter, Ali, Abby, Brynn, and Emma — you are all perfect, not in a "no mistakes" kind of way, but in a "I don't think I could love you any more than I do already" kind of way.
