7 Things People With A Pierced Nose Know

You nose what I’m talking about.

I have always been a fan of piercings. I think they’re a really cute way to express yourself and I love all the different options that piercers are coming up with. For my eleventh and first non-ear piercing, I decided to get my nose pierced. (For those questioning, with the right piercer that you trust it will not hurt badly and I 10/10 recommend getting one if you’re interested.) Although with any new piercing comes its own set of unique challenges to overcome.

1. You will forget that it’s there... often

For the first few days after getting it, your every waking thought will be consumed with the knowledge that the piercing is there. You will see it whenever you look at anything and will be filled with a mixture of elation and annoyance at your new toy. After the newness wears off, you will forget that it’s there just about every chance you get.

2. Glasses/sunglasses are public enemy number one

When you forget about your nose ring and go to slide off a pair of glasses or sunglasses, this will be a fun learning experience to never do that again. If it’s still new and you have the kind of stud without a back, this could literally rip it out. Trust me from experience, that’s not a fun time. With a hoop or a stronger stud, this will still be very uncomfortable.

3. You will consistently look like you’re picking your nose

Sometimes the inner parts of your nose ring will settle in an awkward place. This is incredibly annoying and must be fixed at your earliest opportunity. However, for anyone who is not familiar with the necessary act you are performing, you will look like you are knuckles-deep, mining for gold. Even though this is not the case, it is impractical to approach every person who could have witnessed the event and explain yourself.

4. Makeup is a skillful form of art

You wanna look hot, but not with a beige nose ring. So either you avoid hitting your nose ring with foundation like the plague or take it out and hope you can remember to put it back in. Beauty is pain and nose piercings only complicate the already complicated process.

5. Washing your face is now a struggle

When you go to wash your face at the end of a long day, it is almost certain that you can count on forgetting about your nose ring and nearly ripping it out during your nightly facial cleansing routine. This hurts like hell and is never a fun time.

6. People are gonna be into it

There is hardly a thing in this world that someone is not attracted to. Some people are into neck tattoos, some people are into hipsters, some people are into redheads, some people are into nose piercings. I must admit that I personally find guys with nose rings rather attractive. I’m looking at you Chipotle, nose ring guy ;).

7. You’re gonna love it

No matter how many hardships you’ll face, at the end of the day, you’re gonna love that little piece of metal. It's cute as hell and even though it’s an annoying relationship, y’all will make it work.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
