My grandma didn't let me run into this big world to be stupid. She made sure that before I left for college, I knew a few things to keep me going in a sea of confusion and crippling self-doubt. Here are just a few of the important lessons she taught me:
1. Having A Crafty Hobby.
Grandma taught me to have a crafty hobby. She would sit down with me and show me how to make little trinkets. This craft can be done at any place on campus.
2. The joy of eating a meal in a mug.
Grandma introduced me to mug meals way before I was a teenager. When I was able to reach the microwave, she showed me how to make an egg in a cup. Now, I can make a variety of mug meals, thanks to my grandma.
3. Doing Laundry.
When I first did laundry for grandma, I messed it up a little (aka a lot). She was patient with me though and showed me how to do it the right way. Now, I wash laundry in college with ease.
4. Baking.
I was a horrible baker until grandma showed me how to do it right. I can't just eyeball ingredients, but she lets me use measuring cups. Now, I make brownies for my friends in college.
5. How to be kind.
Grandma showed me how to be kind and give everyone a chance. Don't get it twisted though, I know when to stop being kind too.
7. Be The Best Version Of Me.
I know you have heard this so many times, but here it is again. Grandma always tells me to be who I am. I am a caring, loving, and brutally honest individual. Some people are not okay with that and some people are. Grandma was okay with that and doesn't expect me to change anytime soon for anyone.
Grandparents are the best and are always ready to teach life lessons. These lessons will help you a lot in college, so don't forget them.
