1. Don’t bring a purse.
You won’t want it and you won’t need it. Frat parties are nasty and your purse will more likely end up covered in beer and other questionable liquids. Dancing with a purse bouncing around won’t be fun and losing them will ruin your night. Just bring your ID in your phone case.
2. Don’t ditch your buddies.
The buddy system, as cheesy as it may sound, is your key to having fun. Whether you just need to go to the bathroom or need a walk home, they’ll be there for you when boys aren’t. Especially don’t ditch your friend, if your she looks like she is about to make questionable decisions she won’t remember. She’ll thank you for it tomorrow morning.
3. Don’t make out with more than three guys.
With the abundance of alcohol in your system, a 3 could look like a 10. All of sudden, everyone seems very attractive and also very willing. The temptation may be real but know that people will notice when you are making out with guys all over the dance floor.
4. Don’t get too drunk and scare people away.
Being happy drunk is fun. Blacked-out-and-puking drunk is not. Know your limit and try to keep track of your drinks. If you get too drunk, you’ll find yourself regretting it over the toilet.
5. Don’t believe the “fish tank” or “house tour” offer.
As much as I want to say that all Fraternity gentlemen are there to give you an honest house tour, it’ll often end in their bedroom. This isn’t a coincidence, as much as they make it out to be. However, if you do want to "fall" for it, go for it! Just be aware that there might not be a fish tank.
6. Don’t steal stuff.
For whatever reason, stealing things from fraternities and sororities has become the fun, drunk way to end the night. However, it can get you in a lot of trouble and it really isn’t worth it in the end. Stealing someone’s composite? Fun for the night but you’ll be regretting it when your president wants to talk to you the next morning.
7. Don’t be afraid to call it a night.
Even if the party is still going, if you feel like you’re done, it’s OK to turn in. You won’t miss much if you’re having a terrible time or you're just exhausted from whatever else happened that day. And don’t be afraid to make your friends call it a night if they can’t make that judgment themselves. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
