The past week has been kind of hard for me, with my first semester of college coming to an end, that means lots of finals and a lot of stress. There were a couple days that I was so down and sad, that I couldn’t even get out of bed. My mind was stuck in a funk and I couldn’t get out of it. I got through it though. I feel a lot better, and the way I did it was thinking of these seven reminders:
1. You have to believe in yourself.
Even when you think that believing in yourself is the last thing that you can do, do it. In the end, if you lost everything, you will still have yourself and that’s all that matters.
2. Everything is going to be okay.
I promise. To quote the famous John Lennon, “Everything will be okay in the end, if it’s not okay, it’s not the end”.
3. Everyone's life is different.
Everyone is at a different point or chapter in their life. Stop comparing your chapter one to someone else’s chapter 20.
4. Grades aren't everything, but that doesn't mean don't try.
Study, work hard. Do your homework. Write that essay. Do well, but if you get a bad grade, don't beat yourself up over it. One bad grade isn’t going to ruin your life.
5. Have faith.
You don’t have to believe in God to have faith. Have faith in yourself, have faith in the world, have faith that everything will work out.
6. Don't take yourself too seriously.
Have fun, laugh at yourself, get up and dance; don’t let others tell you that you look weird or that you’re acting weird or anything. Only worry about yourself, and just have fun.
7. Don't go through anything alone.
The good times and the bad times, always go through them with friends. Bad times will become better. Good times will become better. Everything is better with friends. Never choose the lonely path.
Sometimes life gets hard and things are rough. Just take some time to yourself, breath, and focus on what’s really important, your health, mentally and physically.
