Even though not many people I know of play the lottery, we've all thought about what we'd do if we won. Perhaps a house in the hills with a car in the garage that we drive on weekends and one in the driveway with a name we can't pronounce. I've thought about what I'd do if I won the lottery since I could legally play at 18. Now that the idea comes to mind as I'm a junior in college, what would I really do if I won the lottery?
1. Party!
The first thing a college student would do with lottery funds is throw a party. That adrenaline is still pumping from winning so much money, you can't even think about anything else. No, you don't have to tell your friends; just throw a big party because you can. Fun is always the initial purchase when coming upon a large sum of money, so why not party even larger so you know what you won is real.
2. Paying off school
Now that the hangover is in tact, you always think of better things in life, the things far more important than why you have a hangover in the first place: school. I would think that if a college student won the lottery, they would still attend school at least for the rest of that semester. With that said, any loans or debt would be paid off with lottery funds. And you know the best friend, chemistry lab partner and beer pong teammate are getting a nice sum to pay off school with, too.
3. A house
Let's face it. You're moving on to bigger and better things. That mini fridge can't hold your taste of unlimited Gatorade in it. So you move to a house near campus and you don't check the price tag. Now all of your buddies are your roommates. The semester is already about to be become a blur because of your new crib.
4. Nice things for your parents
Parents, guardians, whoever, once you win the lottery, they are going to reap the rewards with you. They've put up with you through your selfish teenage years all the way up to you being a young adult asking for groceries every weekend. Putting a smile on their face will leave you the happiest.
5. An investment into your career
We go to college to build a very nice foundation in our career path. It is safe to say that, with money, your foundation can be a lot nicer than imagined. With so much money, of course you'd buy into your career outside of schooling itself. You want to be an actor, so why wouldn't you pay for production of your own movie that you act in? Majoring in business? Who needs a start-up loan for your ideas when you have the bank in your back pocket.
6. Wardrobe
Clothes clothes clothes. Clothes come later because we all like to say we're using the money for other important things when we first get it. By this time, that shopping addiction has turned from an itch to full body convulsions. You want to wear anything and everything you like because you can buy it. Show up to class in style or simply sleep in from class in style. Clothes are a big part of a college student's life, so expect a large clothing budget.
7. Friends
We've met some of the greatest individuals God has created because of college. College is the perfect place to see someone at all angles, and with your friends, you've seen it all. You're prospering from winning the lottery, so I know you want them to prosper with you. Your crew of people went from buddies to highly important entourage members enjoying the high life with you. Cheers to having the best kind of friendship goals ever, rich life living with friends.
