- Road Trip Nothing beats a good, old-fashioned road trip. Texas has tons of urban cities and tiny towns that all have something interesting to offer! Get together some friends and good road trip music then hit the road!
2. Explore the Caves
Texas is home to thousands of natural caves and caverns. Take a trip down under, and go explore! Some of my personal favorites are the Inner Space Caverns in Austin, Texas and the Natural Bridge Caverns in New Braunfels, Texas. Most caves offer a variety of different tours that will show you all the amazing features of each individual cave!
3. Float the River
Floating the river is a Texas tradition, and every years thousands of people make their way to Texas rivers for fun-filled days with family and friends! The Guadalupe River, Comal River, and Frio River are some of the more popular, but don’t forget the San Marcos River and the Brazos River as well!
4. Amusement Parks
Bring out your inner child with a trip to a theme park this upcoming spring break! Dallas offers Six Flags Over Texas and Hurricane Harbor, and San Antonio offers Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Schlitterbahn, and Sea World.
5. Natural Waterfalls
By spring break time, Texas is already pretty warm so get outdoors and check out some of Texas’s beautiful waterfalls. They are scattered throughout the state so no matter where you are you won’t be far from one! Big Bend is home to many, but others include Beef Creek Falls near Sam Rayburn Reservoir, Capote Falls in Marfa, Krause Springs in Cypress Creek, and Hamilton Pool on the Pedernales River.
6. Museums and Historical Sites
As a history enthusiast, I have always been a supporter of museums and historical sites. Some more frequently visited museums include the Dallas Museum of Art, Houston Museum of Natural Science, and Museum of Fine Arts Houston. However there are many hidden gems throughout the Texas countryside such as the Dr. Pepper Museum in Waco, the birth place of the Texas favorite, the Holocaust Museum of Houston, the Bob Bullock Texas State Museum, the Alamo, and the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center. There are hundreds of others, so get to searching!
7. Ghost Hunting
For the true believers, the skeptics, or the thrill seekers what’ll get your adrenaline going more than a good old Texas ghost hunting expedition? Cities such as San Antonio with the Alamo and old battlegrounds, Dallas with many old buildings and haunted cemeteries, Wichita Falls with a shut down insane asylum, and countless other Texas cities are said to have adventures past a lifetime. Are you brave enough to find out for yourself?
Texas is a state full of a variety of people, cultures, and adventures to be had. If the beach isn’t your place, don’t fret! There’s a huge variety of fun things to do in the Lone Star State. All you have to do is explore!
