The end of the semester is finally upon us! The end of the semester is a very exciting time with the holidays and long break coming up, but it is also extremely stressful. Before we can relax and enjoy the holiday season, we have to power through finals week, aka hell week. The procrastinating, nonstop studying, sleepless nights, it’s a rough time. The good thing about finals week, though, is that we are all in the same boat, so when we constantly complain to each other, we all understand each others’ pain. Here are a few things that all college students understand on a personal level during finals week
1. When you finally take a study break, but can't decide what to do.
You’ve strategically planned out your times for breaks, so when it comes time for a break you know you have to use that time wisely. You usually opt for eating, napping, or showering, but remember that you only have so much time so you need to decide what you’re going to do during this break. I recommend prioritizing because you know that next break isn’t going to come around again for at least another hour.
2. This is how you want to respond when someone asks you how you're doing.
I’ve been studying for hours on end, haven’t slept, and haven’t eaten…how do you think I’m doing?
3. This is how you actually respond.
You know if you respond how you wanted to, your parents would put you in an insane asylum, so you force these words through your teeth, trying to sound as sane as possible.4. When you know you should have tried harder during the semester, but you’re trying to have that carefree attitude.
Well, I tried my best. No sense in drowning in regrets now.
5. When your professors keep emailing you with last-minute tips and things to do.
Really? You had all semester to make sure we have everything we needed for the final. Sending us last minute things isn't doing us any favors. I mean, really haven't we done enough for you over the past few months?6. When your professor emails you the night before with a positive message.
You have tortured us all semester without a problem, and never shared these inspirational messages with us, so don’t try to be our friend now. You are not our friend. In fact, after all the work we’ve done for your class and everything we’ve put up with, you’re more like Satan. So saying you hope we’re ready for the test and that we’ve been getting good sleep..…no, just no. I am not okay.
7. When you get your final grades back and see that all your studying and hard work has paid off.
You got the grades you were hoping for and your GPA is right where you want it to be. You may have been starving, sleep deprived, and dying for the past week, but at least it has all paid off and you can finally enjoy the holidays and your well-deserved break.
