I love video games just as much as I love getting a quality education.
Because I am paying a great deal of money to attend college, I care about my future. One of the hardest things for me, as a studious gamer, is the struggle in balancing college and video games. I am a firm believer in the power of reducing college stress; college students need a decent amount of relaxation, sleep, and positive reinforcement to reduce stress.
For some, relaxation is reading a book or watching a movie, but for me and several others, it involves slaying monsters, building relationships with aliens, and getting lots of thumb exercise.
Here are seven things that gamers face while they are in college.
1. Finding time to play your favorite games
If I don't even have time to take a nap, how do I have the time to game?!
2. And when you do find the time to game, you stay up too late
Even if it's a weekend, expect a night of purging your favorite campaign. Exhausting, but so worth it!
3. Hopefully, your roommate is ok with your rage quitting loudness
Blessed is the gamer with a roommate who doesn't mind the noise.
4. Two words: Dorm. Internet.
The lag is real, frustrating, and never-ending. Dorm internet sucks, but at least you can play.
5. Excitement for canceled classes, weekends, and breaks
Nothing is more exciting to a gamer than having a stress-free time to break out the controller.
6. Fourth quarter game releases
Most new games are released in the fourth quarter of the year, from October to December. This is also exam season for most colleges. The decision whether to play the new games or study for exams seems to have an obvious answer, but it can be hard for those who may not know how to manage their time well.
7. Being too poor to afford new games or accessories
The worst struggle of all is the temptation to buy expensive games and gaming equipment while being a broke college student. On the other hand, with hard work and study, your future career will bring you sufficient money to buy as much as you please!
