Thanksgiving break was fun… while it lasted. Prior to break, I’m sure you imagined yourself sleeping in every morning as you caught up on some much needed rest. Or maybe a stress - free couple of days. Maybe you even imagined an exciting return to school feeling refreshed and ready to start studying for finals.
Wrong.
Less than a week home felt like a couple hours jam-packed with family reunions, late nights with friends, and a dreaded return to school.
Now begins the struggle between Thanksgiving to winter break… as told by the Grinch.
1. Opening your planner the Monday after Thanksgiving break and realizing how much work you have to fit in the next two weeks.
You probably didn’t get much studying done between your Thanksgiving feast, college football games, and the annual NYC parade. Now that you’re back to school, all you want is to be done with the semester.
2. Drowning yourself in school work as you’re subconsciously filling your mouth with a pint of ice cream.
Or maybe convincing yourself you have time to watch another episode on Netflix.
3. Realizing the only place you’ve been beside in bed for the past week and a half is the library.
Study. Studyi. Studyin. StuDYING.
4. Trying to find time to break from essay writing, math problems, and practice exams even if that’s just to run to the cafeteria.
Thank God for those midnight breakfasts during finals week.
5. Counting down the 25 days ’til Christmas with the advent calendar your mom packed in your suitcase before you left.
And trying to convince yourself there’s a light at the end of the tunnel… that if you keep working hard winter break will come quicker.
6. Accidentally submitting your English final to your Spanish professor.
“So done.” -every college student
7. Finally getting home and laying on the couch with a home cooked meal, family, and friends thinking to yourself…
You all know this feeling.
