I think as college students we can all agree that there are times when we have a bunch of work we should be doing, however we have no motivation to actually do it. I am someone who tends to fall under the procrastination category when it comes to doing my work, and although I am trying to be better about this, I still fall victim to it quite frequently. If you’re anything like me, here are 7 things I think you should try instead of doing your homework.
1. Wake up and remember everything you should be doing but you don’t wanna do
The worst feeling for me is when I know I have to do something but I don’t have the actual motivation to do it. I’m sure you get those feelings too, and if you’re anything like me I’m sure this usually leads to analyzing the consequences of either procrastinating and not doing it for a few more hours, or actually doing it and getting it done. So think up the pros and cons, I mean what’s the worst thing that could happen?
2. Lay in bed
So let’s say you resort to procrastination, the next step for me is usually lying in bed and not moving for at least forty-five minutes. This gives me time to calm my thoughts and even catch a few more minutes of sleep.I suggest you do the same. Why be awake when you could be sleeping instead?
3. Call up a friend and see if they want to procrastinate with you
If you have been lying in bed long enough, why not call up a friend and see what they are up to? If you’re lucky they might not have anything to do, or even if they do, maybe you can convince them procrastinate with you. That’s what friends are for right?
4. Go outside
If it’s nice I recommend you go outside and enjoy the great outdoors. If you’re supposed to be in the library doing homework, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to enjoy the fresh air instead? Plus, you get to see some of the cool things nature has to offer.
5. Eat some good food
If you remember that you hate bugs or nature just isn't for you, I recommend eating some tasty food instead. You could look up a new restaurant to try online or eat your favorite food for the millionth time. Either way I think it’s important to never procrastinate on an empty stomach.
6. Try to get something started
Sit down and stare at your computer and think. Come up with anything, write down the first thing that comes to your mind, write down your name or the title or something to make is seem like you have anything to prove that you haven completely screwed yourself over with procrastination. Try to hold on to any motivation you might have and just do it.
7. Watch Netflix
When you realize that you're kidding yourself and that nothing is actually going to get done, I suggest you resort to Netflix. If you wake up early enough you’ll be able to do it in the morning, right? I suggest Arrested Development, the office, Always Sunny in Philadelphia, or Louie. Good luck procrastinating!
