Everyone knows the frustrations of going out for dinner. Sure, it's nice to have someone else cook for you while you spend time with friends and family, but the whole process can be quite annoying.
1. Deciding where to eat
Depending on how many people you're having dinner with, it's hard for everybody to agree on a place. There's always someone who wants something no one else wants or someone who claims they don't care where you eat.
2. Ordering a drink
You usually go straight to the food menu and forget to look at the drinks until the waiter asks what you want to drink. You don’t want to keep people waiting, so you end up ordering the same drink every time and missing out on whatever unique drinks they offer. Either that or you’re a water person. There is no in-between.
3. Ordering food
Somehow you have to narrow down four pages of food to one or two things, which is difficult enough when you’re not considering an appetizer. But when the appetizer is almost as expensive as the meal, is it really worth it?
4. Waiting for food
Technically this is when you can socialize with the people you’re with, but you usually end up on your phone. Then when your waiter walks by with someone else’s food, you get hangry.
5. Food arrives
Finally! The moment you’ve all been waiting for. Everybody gets quiet as they dig into their meal, except when the waiter asks how everything is and you have to answer around a mouthful of food.
6. Dessert
You’re full but the waiter asks if you’d like dessert. Your wallet and your stomach say no, but your heart says yes. After all, everyone knows there’s a separate stomach for dessert.
7. Paying
This is pretty simple when one person is paying for everyone, but we all know split tickets are a nightmare. Everyone gets out their cash or their cards and hands them to the poor waiter who has to do more division than he’s done since middle school. It’s not great for you either. Basically, no one likes math.
No matter how frustrating it can be to go out to eat, it sure beats cooking.
