7 Shows To Watch On Netflix When You're Feeling Down

Finals are swiftly approaching, which means long days, late nights, cramming for exams and writing long papers. But finals can also lead to feelings of anxiety and gloominess. It’s always important to remember to take care of yourself when you’re feeling stressed out, even if that means spending an hour or so just relaxing. The next time you need a break, check out the following shows on Netflix for a pick-me-up!

1. "The Office"

Perhaps an obvious choice for this list, "The Office" is is a great show because of its silly humor and re-watchability. Whether you’ve watched the series through twice or have never seen a single episode, definitely check out “The Dundies” (Season 2, Episode 1), “Halloween” (Season 2, Episode 5), “Booze Cruise" (Season 2, Episode 11), “Conflict Resolution” (Season 2, Episode 21), “Dinner Party” (Season 4, Episode 13), and “Stress Relief” (Season 5, Episodes 14/15).

2. "Parks and Recreation"

Although somewhat similar to "The Office," "Parks and Recreation" is filled with laugh-out-loud jokes and lovable characters. The shakiness and uncertainty of the first season makes it difficult to get into the show, but it definitely finds its footing in later seasons. Check out “The Camel” (Season 2, Episode 9), “Hunting Trip” (Season 2, Episode 10), “Flu Season” (Season 3, Episode 2), and “The Fight” (Season 3, Episode 13).

3. "Bob’s Burgers"

"Bob’s Burgers" is funny without being too vulgar and has characters that everybody can relate to. Most of the episodes are stand-alone, so even if you’re new to the show, go ahead and check out “Bad Tina” (Season 2, Episode 8), “Full Bars” (Season 3, Episode 2), “Mother Daughter Laser Razor” (Season 3, Episode 10), “Broadcast Wagstaff School News” (Season 3, Episode 12), and “Topsy” (Season 3, Episode 16).

4. "Friends"

"Friends" is a nostalgic sitcom for those of us who grew up watching it. It’s worth watching again to catch the jokes that went over your head when you were younger. You can start watching this show from the beginning, or check out the episodes “The One With the Blackout” (Season 1, Episode 7), “The One Where No One’s Ready” (Season 3, Episode 2), “The One With Chandler in a Box” (Season 4, Episode 8), “The One With All the Thanksgivings” (Season 5, Episode 8), “The One With All the Resolutions” (Season 5, Episode 11), and “The One With Unagi” (Season 6, Episode 17).

5. "Better Off Ted"

This show is definitely under-watched and underrated. Each episode is full of clever and intelligent jokes, making it worth watching all the way through from the beginning. The best part of each episode is the commercial parodies for the show’s fictional company, Veridian Dynamics.

6. "Gilmore Girls"

"Gilmore Girls" follows the lives of a teenage girl and her single mother. Although they have their ups and downs, the chemistry between the characters is always fun and heartwarming. Even if you have already watched this show before, it’s worth a rewatch from the beginning — especially in time for the upcoming revival!

7. "Parenthood"

Not too different from "Gilmore Girls" (and even including the actress who plays Lorelai Gilmore, Lauren Graham) is "Parenthood." Just like real life, it cycles through moments of happiness, sadness, and tension — but it always manages to lift you back up. Watch this one through from the beginning to get to know and love each character.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
