7 Rules To Meeting The Parents For The First Time

When it comes to meeting the parents everyone freaks out. You always hear “it’s all about the first impression” and for most cases it is. However, meeting the parents is not something you should stress about any longer. Keep in mind these may be your in-laws one day so try to make a good impression.

1. Always keep a smile on your face

In my experience I’ve learned that the best thing you can do is always to SMILE. I dated a guy once whose parents didn’t speak English so I just laughed and smiled. They ended up falling in love with me because they thought I was the sweetest girl.

2. Always listen to everything

Make sure to pay attention to the conversation. You don’t want to come off as uninterested because than they won’t have a good impression of you. Always be present and contribute to the conversation.

3. The first time try to bring something

Do not overspend or buy something to express their parents. The best way to win over their parents is to bring something homemade. Whenever I meet parents I try to bring homemade dessert. This always wins over their hearts because it shows them that their son will never go hungry.

4. Don't be too touchy with your partner

This just makes everyone feel awkward. Back to making a bad impression, this one has no exampling; JUST DON’T DO IT.

5. Dress to impress

You can tell a lot about a person just by the way that they dress. You don’t want to come off as a slob or hooch. Just be casual while not overdress. IF YOU’RE A GUY PLEASE GROOM YOURSELF.

6. Always compliment

Make sure you try to give compliments to his parents. It will make the situation a little more comfortable. I always compliment my boyfriend's mom. It helps that she always is wearing something cute though. But do not overdo it.

7. Manners are important

Always make sure to show how your mama raised you. Do not forget to always say please and thank you. Additionally, make yourself useful. Always make sure you offer to help out with doing something. It’s rude to just sit on the coach and not do anything.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
